Should Rolex have put a Ceramic Bezel on the new 216570 Explorer II?.

Absolutey not. I am already tired of the ceramic trend and love to see watches still retain a traditional look.

May I ask what is the benefit or why is ceramic better than the non ceramic bezel? ( was it made out of aluminum prior to the ceramic?) I know it's more expensive to replace it should something happen, but is it just marketing ploy? Thanks

Under Rolex's product differentiation/marketing mindset, the Explorer series
is suppose to be well ... a watch for exploring (caves, mountains/climbing...). This excludes possibility of having a ceramic bezel, because being tough and taking knocks/bangs is a basic part of its product image. Besides, as mentioned by Cru, the brushed steel bezel is an integral part of the Explorer II 'look'. |

I would vote no, that the stainless bezel looks great and is very traditional for this model of watch.
HOWEVER I must say that my wife has her eye on a Chopard with a white ceramic bezel and it is STUNNING looking. It has roman numerals set into the material. The images just don't do it justice. http://www.chopard.com/#/en/happycol...n/288525-3002/

Definitely no cerachrom bezel on a model that always had a SS bezel. Wouldn't look right plus the watch is meant to be a tool watch all the way. I personally hate the cerachrom bezels and that's the reason why I sold my GMTIIc after 6 months of owning it.
