BooHoo - New PAM112

I just bought my first Panerai but think I'm going to have to flip it due to a change in circumstances.

Blinking drains need replacing at c$8k and house needs painting c$8k. Knew about the painting but not the drains.

Haven't even got the damn 112 home yet!!!

I just did a fat insurance clam on a collapsed drain in my master bath, after I filed I spent some time making calls and getting estimates then got a bit dirty myself.

I ended up getting both bathrooms completly stripped to the studs and redone for free :)

Sadly it's down to gradual ingress of tree roots, not 'sudden and unforseen damage', so we can't claim. It's effectively a maintenance/wear & tear issue which in NZ isn't insurable.

The stars aligned recently and I got a cracking deal on the 112 a few weeks back and stuck it on Visa. My cunning plan being to ebay off some of my retro cycle collection etc to pay for most if not all of it.

Sadly in the interim the drain issue appeared and is serious. House built in the 40's and drains haven't been touched since. Tree roots, collapse, the lot. I live in Wellington on a major fault line so years of little shakes here and there won't have helped things much.

House needs painting, more urgently than we thought - mind you I do have 3 weeks off at xmas so I could try that, although I know the finish won't be great.

Bugger Bugger Bugger.

It's a damn nice piece, sitting in my desk draw, haven't even got the bloody thing home yet.

Have a quiet think about the situation. Maybe things will work out (financially) and you can keep your 112! Good luck with it.

You'll get it man and it'll be worth it. Take care of the house and don't carry any debt.

You are indeed correct. Might all work out, probably does need to be flipped though.

Basically it was such a good deal I couldn't help myself. Utilised a rather odd tax loophole here where I got a mate to buy it duty free, after some hard negotiating I was 32.5% under rrp!

Still, I have my Sub.

Those 112's are really nice tho.................

Just got it home, popped it on rubber, man it's a great piece.

Drain dude coming back tomorrow, maybe he can do a quick fix and I can then dig a new ditch etc over my 3 weeks off at xmas.

Figure the bulk of the cost is going to be a couple of lads digging a deep long trench, even I can do that even if it takes most of my xmas hols.

Here's to hoping he can clear the key blockage(s).

Do what you got to do. Hope things get better.

112 will be around all the time. Youll for sure be able to get a pre-owned and save some money.
