hi my frist tudor in a dennison case can you help
hi to all my frist post,i got this watch off net the other day. i have a few old watches .just geting into wind up one now.it a tudor in a dennison case 15 rubies movement there are some numbers under the balance wheel very hard to see them.there a lot repair numbers on the back case the earlist one i can see i think is 1949 .can you help me with the age of the watch. i know the dial was water damage ,it was a very bad photo on the net but it did no cost to much .is it worth restoring dial and the case or just leave as it is. thank you very much woody77

Hi. Looks like a Tudor movement based on the AS1187 10 1/2"' movement. These were/are very reliable movements that were very popular in the late 40s and 50s. Many older watchmakers will still have material for them. The hand style is correct for this model but has been re-luminised with the wrong colour. Tylden.

Hi Woody77. The make and cal. number (AS 1187) will either be under the balance or under the dial on the front plate at about the 12 to 1 o/c position. Sometimes the 'AS' will be erased by Rolex. I cannot advise re value before/after restoration - others will! If you have the dial restored make sure you get the same 'Tudor Rose' on it - not the modern shield. A.L.Dennison was an American who came to Birmingham England to set up as case makers to save import duties on his cases. Tylden.
