OK to buy GMT IIC, even though I do not travel?
I totally love the look of the gmt2c, but I do not travel. And If I do, it is only within USA so I can add subtract hours without issues. I feel guilty buying a watch whose part of functionality I will not use or care to use and the green hand will always remind me of it.
But then again: 1) 99.99% do not dive with their subs so is buying a sub a waste too? No 2) 99.99% of Daytona owners do not know how to use their bezel -- so is that a waste too? No 3) One guy here uses his sub to time how long it takes his spaghetti to cook -- so is that a waste too --HELL YES IT IS! It is a downright insult!! Anyone here feels guilty owning a GMT2C and being totally ignorant about the green hand??? Is not using a watch's functionality mean you wasted part of your$$$? |

If you like it buy it. I don't dive but I'm saving for a sub.

You have a humvee to drive around the paved streets of LA and you're worried about not using a green hour hand for its intended purpose?

Really?!? Then again, why spend thousands on a watch when a Casio or iPhone can tell you the time. They have built in alarm, so that is an added bonus

Its a great watch, get it.
As for justifying the 24 hr hand time-zone thing, don't sweat it as none of us can, cos lets be honest its just simple arithmetic that a 10 yr old could do |

I think the GMTIIc is a gorgeous piece. That's reason enough in my book.

Purchase one because you love it and it has the potential to serve you in more ways than you need.

No, it is not.
You have to become a pilot. Or at least get a pilot outfit, with cap. |

Or just use the feature to figure out the time for calls to people in other time zones. You do have friends or business acquaintances in other time zones, don't you? Yes, you can do the math, but it's handier to just read a dial ( or bezel). Besides, it's a beautiful piece of all mechanical equipment in a silicon chip age with a bit of history to its development. And you can even take it swimming!

Adopt a child in a 3rd world country through Children's Christian Network, it's less than the price of a cup of coffee, set GMT hand to kid's bedtime.

Skip the watch and use the money to see the world and expand your horizons. THAT is what a real "Rolex owner" would do Btw....doing the math in your head, even for a 3 hr time difference takes all the fun out of it!. |

One guy here uses his sub to time how long it takes his spaghetti to cook -- so is that a waste too --HELL YES IT IS! It is a downright insult!! QUOTE] LOLZ. I used to use my sub for cooking and timing laundry, etc too but then the bezel started to get loose after 20 years. Now its fitting tightly after service, so from now on I'm never going to turn the bezel again unless I'm in a full wet suit with oxygen tanks. |
