Daytona accuracy
I know this isn't everybody's thing, but I couldn't resist tracking just how accurate my Daytona was over a period of time. So I set it using the Naval Observatory clock. From March 13 to November 6 (238 days) the watch lost just 59 seconds! I think that's pretty remarkable for a mechanical watch and is a testament to the quality of the movement (engineering, parts, assembly). Anyway, just wanted to pass this information along.

I too have found the Daytona to be very accurate. I don't think I've ever heard of one not being accurate but I'm sure there must be.

Fantastic, keep it going until march 2012 so we see how much it loses in a full year

That's great but I always find these types of posts slightly depressing;
My Sub ND is gaining + 10 sec / day. I'm envious. The thing is - if I just get it serviced it'll come back well within COSC (-4/+6 sec/ day) But with lead times of 20 weeks (UK) I'm loathe to part with it for that long. Enjoy your accuracy but remember - it won't last - eventually the lubes will dry out and it'll start speeding up - just like mine and just like every other Rolex. It's a passing thing. In the mean time - You lucky devil. |

1 minute in about 8 mos. That sounds almost to good to be true.
Thats one amazing movement you got there. |

less than +2 a day since. Looking at my Sub knowing it was gaining that much time a day really bothered me. For me, it kind of took the joy out of owning a Rolex. |

I don't mind. I'm sourcing an independent watchmaker worthy of the job (here in the UK - and I can tell you, there aren't many) But I'll get there and sort it. I'm sailing single-handed to the Azores next year - and I intend for the sub to be ship's chronometer - or at least think it is!!! (as well as the GPS, etc ) - so will sort it by then. |
