Explorer II with a Blue Dial????
I have a mid 90's Explorer II with black dial and want to change it to a deep blue dial. Anyone have any advice on this or if its possible or what my options are?
Thanks! |

I think that it's not possible. Let's see what the other TRF members will say

You have no option except an aftermarket custom dial.
Well, I suppose you could fit a blue Sub dial, but then it would say Sub and not Exp,, The EXP II only comes in either black or white.. |

Not possible. Explorers do not have blue dials. A blue Sub dial would probably not work either since the hole in the centre would not be large enough to accomodate the extra hour wheel necessitated by the 24 hr hand.
It may be possible to find a good dial restorer to refurbish the dial in the colour you desire but it would no longer be authentic and what this would do to the value etc... who knows. Add to this the fact that if you then sent it into an RSC for a service etc.. they may refuse to work on it as it has been modified (this would also void any warranty left on the watch although this does`nt apply in this case) and may insist you agree to have a genuine dial fitted (at your expense) to return it to original condition before any work is carried out. |
