Have had my DD white face Romans for about four weeks now. While shopping for the misses, Every DD I come across has the Romans upside down, I took the image from the last post and had my jewler find me the non upside down roman face. Is the non upside down face rare, I can’t seem to find one anywhere for sale, (just to compare prices) Any thoughts?
I have one similar to the one directly below, but all i seem to find for sale is the one under it.

You're trying to compare a new watch with one that is many years old. They haven't offered that dial in the DJ or DD for quite a while.

What years did they offer the non upside down roman, (i used directioneng's picture from a preivous post)

The non upside down makes it unique i feel.

Yes, they did

The socalled "Inverted 6's". Some Daytonas (16520ies that is) had those:

The DD pictured with the Roman Dial 'correct way up" is an N******.

I think it hardly matters whether the Romans are straight up or upside down.....as long as the watch is as beautiful as this one!!

I want mine to look like the Clock Tower at the Palace of Westminster. (Big Ben is the bell behind the clock.) I cannot find a good clock face pic though.

Hi,

You asked the year that this dial was offered I just wanted you to know that my DD is an N and around 1991. It has been to Rolex for service and no comment was made so I presume it's all original.

I am not too familiar with the DD, but why, if the Roman Numeral for 4 is IV, does Rolex incorrectly put IIII for 4?

Because the number six in roman is VI, so it probably to make it less confusing. People can mistaken IV with VI when it is upside down.

Sorry, I don't buy that answer for a second as someone reading the watch takes more notice of the positioning of the hands rather than the numeral itself.
Is it possible the folks at Rolex HQ don't know their Roman Numerals??
Maybe the Roman Numerals are different in Switzerland??

If you look carefully, Rolex got it WRONG for the early Roman numerals.

For early WRONG version, to read the numerals, it is reading it from outside in.

For current version, to read the numerals, it is reading it from inside out.

Look at the numeral XI for the earlier version. Looking from outside in, it is read as 11, not 9.

Rolex got it Wrong and hence changed to the current version.

What are the chances that Rolex got it wrong? Almost none. Thus it is very collectible for this early version.
