Deepsea with dents, missing pearl and no papers..
Hello,
I have at hand a deepsea with 3 dents , one rather big under the helium valve which is pretty visible when looking for it, and two small ones at the lugs. Seems like it has been dropped on concrete. The pearl in the bezel is missing completely and it has no papers. I trust the seller and i really love the watch! So what would be a fair prize for this "wrecked" deepsea? great forum by the way |

I wouldn't buy it. Especially If you are planning on diving, what if the piece has been compromised (not just water-resistance but mechanically)?

Welcome to TRF.
I personally would go for one in better condition and skip this piece.

All that is wrong can be corrected. About price Brand new are selling for $8300 For a nicely used Deep Sea let's say 25% off that which is $6250 Because it does not have the accesories or the "papers" I will deduct another 550 which leaves $5700. But now we have the pearl to worry, the large ding under the HV and the minor dings in the lugs. Hummm..another 700 off will make me happy and that will bring the price down....to $5000... If you do not buy it... I will. |

Factor in the price of a complete service by RSC if you are worried about the condition , movement, and missing pearl. It will come back good as new (or almost).

Here are some bad pictures, but the dents are on the left side of the watch. As you can see the biggest dent is underneath the valve but the dent is aprox 2mm away from the valve. But it has affected the shape og the case whenn you see it from top. Not noticeable when having it on. It is for sure the only way I can afford this lovely watch, but I greatly appreciate all advices. I for sure sure love it tough!:) |

Sorry , tried everything with my N8 camera, but you can see on the left side that the case is a litle supressed and smaller dents on the two lugs.

Sorry, my mobile camera will not take better pictures, will try to get a hold of better camera tomorrow. Man, ive just read the 16 page tread about the fake dssd being made, this made me very suspicious!
This watch is a v series and its been checked by an Ad but still i am scared after reading the posts. Will investigate more tomorrow and try to get better pictures. |

After my first paranoia has disappeared I am still thinking on buying this watch.
I have gone trough all the points in the "beware" post, and the only thing that dont add up is the second "star screw" which I can not see the star pattern in. I can see the little one is a star but the big one looks completely round? But the rolex script inside adds up and is lined up. I have also had and autorised dealer confirm the autenticy of the watch and giving me a paper that verifies it. I am currently waiting for him to get answer from Rolex regarding the serial number, that it is not stolen. I will hopefully get that answer today. What do you say guys I mean what more can I do to make sure its not a fake? And if a respected AD says it real who am I to question it? |

$5000 to a dealer maybe but to Joe Public expect to pay more & $8300 is less than UK RRP back in Feb' 2010, been a few increases since then

On one of the pictures showing the caseback it appears the rear of the triplock crown (the edge of the crown-guards); something there looks wrong. Can someone with a sharper eye than mine confirm this?

Good for you, I guess.
Personally I would have paid more to have one in minty condition so you can put your own dings on it as well as get a complete with with box/papers, still under warranty. |

5000 USD would be the very highest bid I'll make...
But considering the watch and its condition, which obviously calls up for a complete service at a Rolex AD, and considering a Deepsea is rather recent watch, I'm quite surprised you could consider buying this one. OK you know the seller, but how the hell fit he make these dents on such a recent watch. To me, it means the previous owner did not care one minute about this watch... MY 2-cent opinion. |
