Well technically, he asked for "the best price" which is different from "the price" ;-) Implying discount.

Asking for the "best price" implies a discount. My reading comprehension is just fine

If I were the AD, I would be thinking who on earth is this guy? Is he a competitor who wants to dob me in for discounting? blah blah blah.

If one is sincere, I'd walk in after confirming they got the model in stock. Price discussions are always face to face.

I agree with those who say the odds of getting a helpful response from a high end watch AD to this kind of email are low.

Especially since they are likely prohibited from selling to anyone who's not physically in the store anyway . . . they might make an exception for someone they know, but probably not otherwise.

Your email (in both content and practice) implies that you're interested only in price, not service. Don't be surprised when the service isn't there when you do such a thing. The salesperson isn't going to stick their neck out for an anonymous emailer... Much less one trying to avert sales tax, and bringing shipping cost into the fray which is straining at the gnat on such a purchase.

Ignore the reply and go in the AD and do a face-to-face to pitch the discount you want.
Good luck!

I would tell him to pack sand, there was a much better response to be had and he failed.
