I agree with Bo. I am here because I love Rolexes and watches in general, I love TRF, to have fun, help others and to be helped. Please lets just leave all the negative talk outside of the forum and not bring it into here.

So to get back on topic: What is the most astonishing deal you have EVER made when buying a Rolex from an AD, guys? What kind of discount in percent and how did you get it?

You can ask this question again in California buddy. You will be lucky if you can get 10% off from an AD here. Many ADs that I have been into only offer to: 1. Have the sales tax waived off which is anywhere from 7-9% in California so you still pay the MSRP with 0% discount but without the additional sales tax. OR 2. If your a good costumer who has purchased from that AD before, they can give a 10% discount of MSRP if they notify Rolex first as I was told. NO discounts on the sports models though, they are to be had only at the MSRP here.

I see it as the golden rule you have the gold you can make the rules. The truth is Yes watch sellers are hard up to get all the money they can. That is why they sell watches. Cash makes a big difference and in my view 5 thousand is a lot of money to most people. Even snotty watch dealers understand their place, their roll, and that they make their money one sale at a time. If I were selling watches I would discount as many buyers never ask for a deal many pay full retail, others ask. As for me I have paid full retail on only one Rolex the others came down to a discount or no sale.
Some watch sellers want the perfect world (which will never happen) where we (the buyers you know the ones with the gold) walk in like sheep and give away our money. If people think the sales world works like that it is time to get out of the occupation. The best deal I had on a Rolex was 18% off. |

It all depends, if it's a new and fast moving model. The local dealer here was not taking a penny off. Even after I offered cash. Not even 3% for te creditcard costs. Funny thing is that the 116713 I tried to buy has been sitting there now for more than 4 months. All their older models normally get between 5 and 10% discount. Guess I'll have to wait untill that puppy in the window gets older. In the end it's his business and knobody is putting a gun to my head.

The best deal I made (maybe not as impressing as the other deals reported here) was 15 % off an SD + a promise that my AD would service the Lady Datejust I bought for my mother some years ago would get a full service check for FREE next time it was due.
And when I bought my recent Sub Date SS (different AD), I got 10 % off the MSRP + the SD tool set that normally only comes with the SD.

The best deal I made 20% on lady DJ T/T and 5% on LV all both at once with CC. Next best thing that hopefully will be made 10% on Exp 1 along with Daytona S/S @ Recc retail price. I will post pictures and story when it come.

What dial colours would you go for on the Explorer II and Daytona? Surely not BOTH White Faced? I wish you luck!

Nearly did a deal with Monards but at the last minutes my sis come up with the best deal from AD in SING. I went to Hour Glass with casual look, my wife with my young son looking very odinary on that day. I went in, they just look at me up and down ( I wear a $300 Traser watch on that day) and treat me like a second class citizen. No deal there I guess. |
