What to pick? Rolex or Panerai?
Hi guys,
I just wanted your opinions on what's better the new Rolex Explorer 2 or a Panerai Pam 351 Luminor Marina 1950 3 day automatic titanium? Cheers! GMTIIc SS, JLC Reverso Squadra GMT |

Black dial Explorer 2 would be my choice.

The 351 is one of the best offerings that Panerai has. It is a flat out amazing watch, 1950 ti case, tobacco dial and gold hands. OH, in house movement with a 3 day power reserve, display back so you can see the beauty of the finished movement, quick strap changing system that is just amazing, I can go on and on.
The Explorer II is a nice Rolex, but the 351 wins that battle IMHO.

I know this is TRF and usually I would say Rolex hands down but I have been head over heels in love with Panerai as of late and have just added my second in less than a week... So as they are both beautiful and great watches I would say grab the Pam

had the pam and though I like the idea of an in house movement, the thing was just to darn think for me. It was a beautiful watch and case, but when you put it up to Rolex and their latest incarnations, it really doesn't compare in the long run. Exp II all he way...

Again, it would boil down to personal preference. Best to go to your nearest AD and try both and pick-up which sings a louder tune.
However, IMHO, I would easily go for the Rolex. To be specific, the white dial since you have a GMT. But, looking what you have and if you want to diversify, go for the PAM.

Get both of those.
I got the polar and the 312. Similar watches as your choices and I wear the polar more. Regards. |

Between that I will pick the Panerai. If it was a different Rolex model then I might pick Rolex instead. |
