power reserve question
sorry for the noob question gents...
i was testing the power reserve on my subc and gave the watch 30 spins and let it sit. The watch ran for a bit over 24 hours. I know the power reserve is approx 50 hours correct? should i be concerned? |

A full wind is at least 40 turns.

I am getting 48 hours reserve after a 40 wind. Watch is 26yrs old. Think you should get more.

If it hasn't been serviced in a long time, that sounds pretty good

From a recent past search of power reserve on this forum I have found that most of the people have given it 40-50 winds (do 50 just to make sure).
The average seems to be around 47-48. I have read that a watch with a quick set date saps some of the maingspring power in order to get ready to advance the date wheel. It would probably be better to wind the watch fully around 9am to 3pm so when your watch hits the upper 40 hours it is not caused to stop by the date getting ready to change. Here is what I have found through searching this forum: 2008 SS GMT IIc - 46 hr: 38 min: 26 sec 1997 SS Lady Date - 46 hr: 42 min: 58 sec 2004 SS Explorer II - 47 hr: 22 min: 41 sec 1984 Gold Day Date - 49 hr: 0 min: 59 sec 1986 SS DateJust - 49 hr: 44 min: 59 sec 1988 SS DateJust - 50 hr: 48 min: 34 sec 2004 SS Tudor 79280 - 52 hr: 48 min:47 sec (chrono not running) SD - 48 hours and 3 minutes. Daytona 4130 - 71 hours
How does the daytona get 22 hours more then the other watches? I was going to say maybee the date uses the extra power BUT the 14060 had 45 hours.. Can someone test there daytona to see if they get the same resuts? |

Yup, I would give it a complete 40-50 turns of the crown (make certain they are complete turns) and I am willing to bet you will get dramatically closer to the norm
