Looks like my watch has some twins out there! My dad wore this almost every day from 1964-1992, and I wore it almost every day since 1992. Recently repaired a broken spring, and now it is back to keeping perfect time.

Very nice - linen dial!

I used to have one, hoping to be reunited with another DJ soon.

The DateJust was the the first Rolex that I was exposed to - my dad's. He still wears his to this day.

1978 1601

Hello

My first post, just felt I had to add to the Datejust love. :)

This is my second Rolex, a 1978 1601 with a glossy black dial. I love the clean crisp look. It really works with everything, suit, tux, shorts to the beach... I have rather thin wrists, and I've been using a few different vintage 34mm watches, so the size feels great. I currently wear it on the Jubilee bracelet with a smooth steel bezel, I was going to buy an Oyster bracelet for it, but the jubilee is really growing on me. A few pics of different looks:

Originally:

Currently (I still have the white gold ring, of course.)

I really like it on this "racing bracelet" for driving my vintage sportscar, it makes the watch very sporty even though it isn't a chronograph. You wouldn't need that at Le Mans anyway. ;-)

And finally, I also tried it on a "Bond" Nato. Perhaps this particular Nato is too much, but it doesn't work that well. Also, I've used my Oysterdate a lot for sports, and it is better on a Nato since it is not as thick.

Cheers!
