Jewelers Mutual question...

I paid JM to cover my watches and I received my policy today, this is what scared me:

Most of my watches are via individual (ebay, TRF Classifieds) transactions. So obviously there are no receipts.

Is this a concern when/ if I have a claim?

Anyone who has claimed loss with JM want to chime in if they require receipts of when you bought your watch?

I tried calling JM and they say all claims are processed on a case by case basis and cannot get a definitive answer.

It would be prudent to have each watch evaluated to establish exactly what you have, which I think is requested from JM anyway. I wouldn't worry about sales receipts though.

I had to appraise them and upload to their site as part of the approval process.

How I read it is you need a Sales Receipt...I think I might just draw up Bill of Sales for each watch (in lieu of) just in case.

appraisal should be fine, call them and ask to be sure but that's the binding document they base their coverage on. They can't cover you, then request a retail receipt if there is a claim, that would be ludicrous...

I had to provide appraisals of my watches prior to getting a policy as well.

I've used JM before - you have to have an appraisal anyways (easy) and any ebay, paypal, email records are more than plenty for "sales receipt" purposes. Their "related documents" language covers you there - insurance companies are strict, but they're generally not completely unreasonable in this regard.

I had to send in the appraisal. Told them I didn't have a receipt as the watch was a gift.

I was hoping someone who have had a claim with JM could chime in.

Most of my watches are from grey dealers (like Trusted Sellers here) or Individual to Individual sales.

I just want to make sure I am covered.

If you've paid your premium and given them an appraisal your covered.
