Smash & Grab In Oxford Street
The Leslie Davis store in Oxford Street, London was victim of a smash and grab raid yesterday. A number of Rolexes were stolen!

There has been a spat of this type of theft in the west end. And obviously it is done in daytime hours otherwise the watches are in a safe.
Carrs in Liverpool St has a big burley guy patrolling the street outside their shop. It makes me wonder how they move on these watches, would you buy a watch with no papers? |

It's a very dangerous time to be in the trade at the moment - I feel bad for the jewellers in outside areas. I know we had several serious raids at an old location, including a nasty armed one. No nasty one's since I've been working, although there have been attempts...I am surprised they would attempt to hit an AD in a place as busy as Oxford St, however!

This was the same store that Matbaj said he had problems with a security guard marching over to him and interupting a sales assistant actually selling him a watch to tell him not to wind the watch and to be careful with it !!!!!
That's probably why there was no one watching the store...... http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=208131 |

Surely this outrageous crime will lead to sensible sledgehammer control.

Forged cards are a simple job - easier than credit cards. The equipment is all around. And now that the engraved certs are no longer used, buyers need to be more cautious of private sellers of BNIB.
