Icon5 Rolex Daytona -- Fake or not?

Hi,

This is my first post in the forum, and I'll hopefully stick around as I have just raised the correct amount of money to buy myself a brand-new Rolex Datejust. :-)

Anyway, while digging around in my old man's belongings, I found a Rolex Daytona. Knowing that my father wouldn't even dare to buy one, I questioned its authenticity. I posted some pics for you guys to look at before sending it to a Rolex dealer.

Pictures:

Thanks in advance.

Hahahahaha thanks for saving me the money.
What clues made you know that it's fake?

Band markings

For most fakes I've seen playing with the watch makes it obvious. The chronograph (bottom small dial) usually doesn't function correctly, adjusting the time isn't as clean as on a real one (even if it does stop the second hand). Power reserves are MUCH less than on a real one. I can't tell from the pic if it has ROLEX around the edge of the face...

without looking at dial face or markings, one can tell a low end fake daytona simply from the chrono buttons.

they protrude too much compared to the real thing.

Icon20 Rolex Daytona 116520 Authenticity

Here are three pictures of a Rolex someone I know wants to trade with me for a vehicle. I am trying to determine if it is real or fake, have done research online but I am still in two minds as to its authenticity as I do not have much experience with Rolex watches prior to this. The back cover has 'Winner Rolex24 at Daytona 1992' etched in it. Any comments are welcome, as I am still considering the trade. If more pictures are needed I can do that too.

Thanks for the feedback.

Well, I have certainly seen worse, as this is not a Hall of Shame candidate, but if that watch was any more fake it would be Pam Anderson's boobs!
