I'm thinking of selling my DSSD so I can get a new 42mm Exp 2. I've always loved the white face Exp, but since I've had me DeepSea, the old ones felt small on me. I'm going through a divorce, so I can't spend the $7k out right. I've worn my DSSD for almost 3 years, so it's got lots of character. Should I have it polished up by my AD, or sell if for a little less in its current condition and let a buyer decide.

Don't polish it....The new owner can always have it done should he or she want to....

Really? How can you go from such a beast to anything lighter and smaller. I just tried on the 42 EXPII. Not for me. I love the DSSD and to me there is nothing else I would want.
Anyway you could polish it with a Scothbrite pad.

Eh... I'm thinking about it. I really love the look. I had a white face Exp 2 5 years ago and always regretted selling it. Now that it's bigger, I like it. But, you're right, it does feel wimpy compare to my DeepSea. I just keep thinking all of my Rolex's before this were smaller and they felt normal.

This is a little off topic - but I don't like polishing either. Can you request that the Rolex Service Center not polish your watch when they service it?

Don't polish it - lots of buyer (like me) prefer to decide on their own if they want to polish a watch.

Don't sell your DSSD for an Explorer! If the DSSD is comfortable to you, it is a massive watch, the Explorer will feel wimpy - couldn't think of another word.

I just took my wife's DJ in to the AD for a polish job,,I hit the bracelet with the 3M pad before I took it in,,they only charged me $150 and it looks new and that included new seals!!CJ.

Agreed

IMHO no one wants a "new" watch with the previous owner's character... Not on a modern Rolex anyway. Of course vintage is an entirely different animal
