Well, it's been a while now - I seem to remember it as The Ultimate Rolex Dictatorship, but you'll have to check with the other guys for the right name.

I have to agree with you, Daren. Probably the best thing that happened was that we all got banned around the same time and so we had to do something to stick together. And what we did was take what Mark had started and built this place into the most fun watch forum on the web.

I also agree with you that there are some great people over there that I miss. But since we can't go there anymore, there's no reason they can't come over here, except for the (implicit) threat that they will be banned from there if they are seen participating here.

As I've said before, that is the real shame of this whole thing, the attitude of some people over there that it's either them or us. There can't be any divided loyalties.

P.S. Actually Adrian, I must confess, I told Ayjay that you put me up to posting that thread here. That's why you got banned, too.

That's so true. The other place and WTF are essentially the same. All or nothing which is just total bollocks! It's more like a cult. I post here, TZ, WTF, and I mod a forum on WUS. No one has a problem with that.

Yeah, and I am going to hold a meeting of all the other banees and determine whether we can tolerate those divided loyalties here. If you find your butts kicked out of here, you'll know why - traitors.

Comparing WTF and TURF is NOT a fair comparison at all. I can tell you quite frankly that in spite of the indifferences you guys may have had with JBHII, he is certainly not the dictatorial type of person we've known on TURF.

Okay, I agree that I cannot have the same degree of freedom there as I have here, but to be very honest, that man has NEVER been rude to me, NEVER been sarcastic with me and NEVER hurt my feelings in any way. For that I have to respect him. I certainly don't post anywhere as many posts there as I do here, but I do keep in touch, lurk around a little and answer questions of newbies whenever I can help out.

WTF may not be the most exciting forum on this earth, but it's a damned sight decent one with a moderator who at least has behaved like a gentleman with me!! Which is more than I can say about TURF and those dictators there!!

Cheers - JJ

I am not gonna go into detail on this, but all I know is the man baited a person who was a member from day one and a friend of mine. Knowing he would fire back, then banned him when he fired back. That move and he are as low and chickenS*** as they come. I knew then and there, actually before that, that it was time not only to get the hell of that team but to leave for good. Then I got banned after I left, sounds alot like another forum and what happened to a few guys that are here today.

It is the same, his way or no way. I'll stop here, as I would rather discuss it off the board not on it.

Well said Daren. If those guys could have forecast that all us banees would get the last laugh (because this place is so amazing and the fact that their place is dropping like a stone in terms of hits) they may have given a rethink to their banning strategies.

You know, one time I had it out with the "lawyer" there and he said if I thought he did such a bad job moderating, that I could have his job and he stated he would step down. I gladly accepted the position, but he turned me down. I also suggested moderators be nominated there and run on a one year term, but that also got shot down.

Regardless, we get the last laugh.

Hi JJ,

First off let me say that I count you as a true friend, and I thought this post over quite a lot before putting anything down. It's because you are a friend that I have to say this, so please take it in that spirit.........

When you were being persecuted at TURD, there was an effort on the part of many (who are now here) to defend you. We took up your cause, as it was quite clear that you were being treated unfairly. As a direct result, many of us were banned. In your post above, you state that the leader of WTF has never treated you poorly, but in fact he has treated some of your closest friends quite poorly. We were outraged at that as much as we were when you were in trouble at TURD. I would have thought that you would be one of the first to take up the torch on behalf of your pals when the crap hit the fan at WTF, knowing what others have done for you in the past.

In no way am I saying you should not or can not participate at that place - that is clearly your choice. However, to imply that the person who runs it is a person who deserves respect because he has never done anything to you personally is just not on in my opinion. Sorry, I just had to get that off my chest.

Thanks, Al

Trust me, Al...all that you've said above has crossed my mind and, in fact, has been the story of my life. Somehow, I just can't be rude with someone who hasn't been rude to me.

I used to face a similar dilemma in my school and college days when I was friendly and good with practically all the guys, but some of them couldn't get along with each other. At those times, I usually felt sandwiched and didn't know which side to take.

I'm just not the kinda guy who can turn around and slap someone in the face if that person has been genuinely nice to me...that's just who I am. I know you guys are my very good friends and I love you guys as much as you love me, but honestly....and I don't know how to put this....it's just not in me to be nasty with someone who hasn't been nasty with me.

Please try and understand, guys. Nothing personal at all....it's just me!!

I have to agree with Al on this. As a point of fact, when JBH banned me, Daren stepped down from the mod team and stopped going there, in support of my banning. He also told the mod staff as much in the mod forum. Then he got banned.

When I got banned from TURD no one took up the cause and no one actively supported me on the forum for fear of getting banned. This did hurt but I got over it and here we are. But when there's one mod who's pissed on so many of your friends, if I was in your shoes, personally I would have broken ties out of support.

But you're free to do what you want, JJ. I too, had to get that off my chest.

JJ, I hope this is the last I have to say on this subject. I think you have misunderstood my point to a degree. I have no issues with you participating on WTF, and was never suggesting that you should be rude to anyone over there. My issue is with you posting comments about how great a guy he is on this site, knowing full well that many here were harmed by this person. I left that forum after my firends were banned, but that was a personal decision and you are free to make your own. I am certainly not asking you to do something that is uncomfortable, but just to be aware that your posts in support of this particular person are making many here very uncomfortable. You have supported him in this thread and have posted links to his reviews with the full knowledge that most here are not fans of his. I have not studied all the threads to provide statistics, but it seems that when that person or forum is brought up, it is mostly brought up by you. I can't speak for others, but I would love it if that person and that forum were never again spoken of or referred to here.

I don't think that is too much to ask, but if you disagree then you can expect others here to give their opinions, which will likely to be contrary to your own.

Best regards, Al

Well, I get your point, Al. It's just that I did find that article on the comparison between two of the finest chronographs out there so good, that I'd just share it with all of you....that's all....and honestly it was irrespective of whoever wrote the article. Just that the article was informative and pictorally very educative.

However, henceforth I shall desist.

Cheers - JJ

I won't make any 'funny' remarks right now, but what the hell is going on here?

If this will start it all over again refrain from answering, I'll understand (been there before). Sorry for this outburst.

I agree and Al you articulated my point better than I could have. We all get our backs up when the other place is mentioned and have agreed to let dead dogs lie. However, the other, other place has left a similarly bitter taste in some of our mouths and we just don't want him or his place referenced.

We're all WIS', we all know how to google info that we're looking for. I'd just as soon not see him referenced here anymore as well.

That said, I'd like to thank JJ for being such a stand up guy about this. It truly is the mark of how well we get along that we can talk about things like this without getting egos bruised or bent out of shape.

I love this place, and each one of you. Group hug anyone?

However, the other, other place has left a similarly bitter taste in some of our mouths and we just don't want him or his place referenced.

We're all WIS', we all know how to google info that we're looking for. I'd just as soon not see him referenced here anymore as well.

That said, I'd like to thank JJ for being such a stand up guy about this. It truly is the mark of how well we get along that we can talk about things like this without getting egos bruised or bent out of shape.

I love this place, and each one of you. Group hug anyone?
Thanks to you John, and also to JJ for his understanding.

I'm up for a group hug, as long as Daren doesn't try to snog anyone.......
