tough one....
I personally like the 2tone sub and I am not a YG guy at all. I only wear SS. But something about that 2tone sub.........looks great in your pic and its a "does everything well" watch. Not that the YM isn't but IF I had to personally choose 1 or the other I would go sub.

Looks like there's a lot of support for keeping the YM. Both watches are terrific, but if it were me, I'd stay with the YM as well.

Well, let me tell you a little story....
After recently acquiring a Platinum Yachtmaster (rather fortuitously, I might add), I wore it for a few hours and thought "Wow, this could be the perfect watch." Until.... That night we went out for a celebratory dinner. In the middle of dinner, I looked down to check the time and could not see the hands at all in the moderately lit room. It took me five second of turning my wrist to get the hands to catch the light just right before I could tell what time it was!!!! Well, I am always a Function over Form kind of person. While I loved the looks of the watch, I need it to be readable. While this probably has more to do with my aging eyes, I never have the problem with my Explorer II. So, long story short, I have flipped. Incoming SubC for me.

Very interesting....I agree with the function over form...the ym is a beast of a watch....I think I need to try on the sub before finally deciding...thanks for your input....you flipped the platty?!?!?

The handful of Rolex's I've owned over the past 30 years have all had a black face with white hands (Subs, SD's, Explorer's, etc). A few years ago I thought I wanted one of the very simple DJ's with a silver face and white gold hands. I tried it on and had the same experience: I had to strain to tell what time it was!

I personally don't like the YM so I would recommend getting the TT Sub right away. Nothing like a TT Oyster bracelet when you want a little bit of flashiness.

JJ actually was the one who convinced me to buy the Explorer II and his advice was bang on. I was really looking forward to the comfort of the Platty but, without the advantage of JJ's glasses, I simply cannot see the dial. This sort of renders a watch useless in my mind. In any event, I hope I don;t get dragged behind a truck for my decision.

YM is a great watch, seldon seen in the wild, very cool looking and I love the red second hand
Sub is very common and a dime a dozen in the wild Keep the YM and buy the sub down the road if it still sings to you or better yet diversify and buy a GMT-C in TT |

Me also.
I thought I was the only one who felt this way about the YM. Doesn't look like a real Rolex to me. Kind of like a replica.

THE YM is too mono chromatic for my taste. I like my Rolex to pop so the TT would be a easy choice for me.

Hi Tom,
For a TT, I much prefer the blue 16613. FWIW, my wife who's sitting next to me said the YM would look better on you.
