Please give your opinion on Thunderbird

Close to buying the 1987 Thunderbird pictured below. I did not buy the vintage Thunderbird and thanks for all the replies to my earlier posts. I appreciate all of you taking the time to help me with this purchase. If purchased, this will be my daily watch and I will retire my vintage GMT Master from every day wear. Hope I am not being a pest.

Of COURSE you are not a pest!

Well, I really like that "Thunderbird"! Cool blue dial!

But the BOX is all wrong, as you probably know?

Not "wrong" in the sense "not made by Rolex", but that box is one of the NEW boxes, and that Thunderbird would have been in a totally different style of box.

Does it have its papers??

No. The seller was upfront that it was not the original box and that he did not have the original paper work. Thanks for your reply.

Okay then

Sounds like an honest seller, and that is important.

Just some more comments on the watch:

I really like that bezel! And the condition of it is superb!

I also like the hour markers that have that raises middle section. I had a DJ (16234 with those kind of hour markers once)

And the off-white date wheel colour (as it should be)! Very nice watch altogther

The dial is blue, but is a different blue from my TT 1990 Submariner. This close....from pulling the trigger on the purchase. Again, thanks to all for any and all help.

Very nice from this view.

Did you pull the bracelet off and research the serial number ?

I could wear that as an every day....

Tools...it always comes down to the simple things. Have not had the chance to research the serial number, but that is the next step. The seller has a seventy-two hour no-questions-asked return policy. So either I buy and inspect upon delivery or ask for a picture of serial number before purchase. To be safe I'll do both. Would rather purchase from somebody I know or someone referred by this site. Again, Thank you.

I recently started buying "used" Rolexs and from my expierence I can attest that it is BUYER BEWARE. I lived in the Caymans during the 80's and had the opportunity to puchase new Rolexs from an AD at fair prices. Won't mention the name since I am new to this site and not aware of all of the rules, but the name of the AD started with a F. They were good people. Again, thanks for all of the help. I was asked recently how I had acquired so many "Vintage" Rolexs and it reminded me of how old I have become. They were all new when purchased!
