Insolite idea ..

I wonder if it would be difficult to fit a GMT movement i.e. 3185/6 in a Deepsea case . Isn't the 3185 basically a 3135 with added complication anyway ?
The date window should line up , no ? There should be enough clearance between the dial to allow the higher stacking because of the 4th hand , no ?

Did anyone else contemplate this before or has it been done already ?

I know I will not even dream of asking any official dealer let alone RSC about this .

.
3135 itself (not talking about 4 hands vs 3) is 6mm in height, where 3185/3186 is 6.45 mm.

Not sure it will fit in the case between case back and dial, une fois.

Indeed , the height is what I believe could be the problem . Both the movement being thicker because of the added complication and then the stacking of 4 hands .
The Deepsea should have some more spare space compared to other 40 mm cases taking 3135 .
P.S. : une fois I'm not Belgian even I speak French quite fluently because I deal a lot with ex-"Légion étrangère" service men .

isn't the deepsea titanium caseback designed to flex under deep pressures, doesn't the ring lock system depend some compression here?

not thinking that you will be the fraction of a percent of folks who actually push their watch to the functional limits, but you never know...

finally why would you want to...?

but either way, its your watch

I wear my Deepsea day in day out and I'm not pampering it in any way . I do dive once and while but will never reach the extremes for which the Deepsea was designed for so I'm not worried about the case back and ring going to crush the thicker movement . Why I want to do this ?:My profession obliges me to travel frequently and deal with people in different time zones . The GMTIIc is a watch I'm intending to buy in the weeks to come and from there has risen this insolite idea .
At the moment this is just hypothetical , but I have turned more improbable concepts into reality .
It's all about opportunity , feasibility and cost .

I would question the attachment of the movement to the dial back. My guess would be that they are not compatible without some modifications. I am assuming that you would keep the dial of the DeepSea.

No

Why not add another piece to the collection instead if trying to create a Frankenwatch?

Your all in, your going to open up that deepsea and do what ever it takes mods wise to make it work... OK i get it.
the cost will be excessive and you will have rendered 2 nice watches otherwise worthless in the resale dept. OK no problem here either as long as you create what you want, ill assume you have or will source the tools to fit and align everything to perfection and not just hack it in...

1 last problem, the deepsea (as far as i know) can only be pressure tested by rolex, and in its condition if you ever need a service or specific part to the deepsea, you will have a heck or a time sourcing it.

so, you may very well have to go to rolex down the road and their response will be a wagging finger that either points to the door, or points at a very large number on a piece of paper which will be slid toward you in a hushed moment as the service representative tries to hold back a snicker.

cant wait to see the watch:

I don't think you'd have an easy time finding a movement either way. Buy a GMT.

you are nuts....

but I can't see why it wouldn't fit. 0.45mm difference in movement heights and sub case is a bit deeper than the GMT.

But what you create would be not be a modded watch, it would be a franken and not be worth a great deal.

No matter what the SDDS case height is compared to GMT or SUB.

Movement have to be fitted inside, and inside the allowed height is limited :
