Rumours are most often just rumours when it comes to Rolex. Wait 'til Basel, Rolex are one of the few companies who can keep their products secret until their launch. For the record, I seriously doubt Rolex will be altering the Deepsea. Other models need attention more

I think that if Rolex reissued the DSSD with a deeper depth limit it would just be a gimmick. I think that just as many people would have bought the Sub C in a 43mm sized case as bought the DSSD. If fact maybe more would have bought it since the case would not have been as thick and the watch would not have been as heavy.

New dial? Can you talk more about it? Also will Rolex ever offer to buy just the bracelet? Any plans on making a wider one?

The dial changes are mainly slight black colour change few very slightly different style fonts that you would miss if you did not use a loupe. And the bracelet will only fit a DSSD so if you do not have a DSSD whats point.

Emememem,
Do you really need to go deep than 12,800 feet? This is coming from a new owner of a 2011 DEEPSEA.......come on.....if you like the 2001 DEEPSEA take the plunge...any deep does not matter at this point as no human can withstand anyway. |

Afraid with todays culture with some, heavier, bigger, more depth rating etc make it a better watch. And lets be honest how many of todays sports divers ever see any water other than perhaps a dip in the pool.Today with many its mine is bigger than yours factor that sell watches.

DeepSeas
Ive had my DeepSea since the first year made. In fact I was one of the few that had it before others. I own many watches of all types. Im not really good with keeping scratches off my watches so I buy new bracelets/straps and stow them away in case of ever having to sell. The fact remains, in owning a bigger then normal watch you need to have a wider band. It just looks better. I own a Panerai 270 and couldnt even think about having a tapered band on it. It doesnt look right. But it is personnal preference and whatever makes you happy. I saw a picture of a DeepSea that was HUGE and said to be the new one coming out. As far as the depth range goes, Im an Oilfield Saturation Diver. Of course you never can go as deep as the DSSD but their is a competition on whos watch goes deeper. My DSSD is my favorite and if they come out with a newer deeper one Im all over it.

I really like the tapered bracelet on the DSSD.
I did think before buying I wouldn't at all, but having worn it in now it just feels extremely right, and comfortable. However, and to digress a little, I think Rolex should be busting out some rubber straps as part of the pack for a DSSD or any or their diving/sports watches. Makes sense to me. |

Great post but that was then and tomorrows a new day. How many of those would sell now? If that was the case they never would of came out with the new version. They're just as much as keeping up with times as the next and in todays world, bigger is better.
