I would think heat would expand and cold would contract.

Putting the whole deal (bezel and insert) in the freezer for an hour should help as the metals, dissimilar though they are, will each contract. Hitting the assembly for a few minutes first with a hair dryer (on high) will also help in dissipating moisture and expanding the metals before their time in the freezer.

I have found that holding the bezel at 12 o'clock while prying off at 7 o'clock redeuces the chances of loosing the click spring. Replacing the bezel by starting at 12 o'clock is also helpful.
