RSC servicing?

Hi Folks

Assuming if I were to bring in my rolex for servicing at RSC. Do they polish the watch thoroughly? My watch looks quite new except some hairline scratches on the case and bracelet which needs to be touch up slightly. I feared that they will over polish it just to bring out some slight scratches. Thanks.

RSC does the best case work of any I've seen. No worries!

I have some previous experience with RSC that makes me worried.. They put some chipped marks on the front lugs of my 2 week old EX2.

They will do only what you request. If you tell them not to touch something, they won't.

They still mess up the lugs of my EX2 althought I told them in advance to be careful and use masking tape before doing anything..

Yes, they would polish it unless you tell them not to. But the price will be the same (about 400 US $), regardless if RSC polishes it or not.

But you can rest assured that the RSC will bring your Rolex up to as-new condition!

I sent my immaculate SD to RSC for servicing last year and was surprised when they polished the watch case as much as they did - they tend to slightly bevel the case edges. That said the finish was excellent (better than the orginal) but with the benefit of hindsight I would have asked them not to polish the case - if you are concerned then just tell them exactly what you want and don't want done - I am sure they will do a great job.

Thanks folks.

Woody,

can we probably request them to touch up lightly on the case and bracelet? since those are just minor scratches..

There is nothing to stop you asking - perhaps the issue for you is that your past experience of using the RSC was not very positive - have you thought about just asking the RSC to complete the service on the watch and to take any casework that you feel needs doing to an independent watchmaker or one attached to your AD? This would give you more control over how the case was polished etc which might address some of your concerns.

If its just hairline scratches, leave it be. Just have it in sync with your 5 year service. This way, it will preserve as much metal as possible.
