No holograms on new Rolexes
This is likely no news to many here, but to me it's big news: I went to have my new SS Sub Date black dial bracelet adjusted, after two days of wearing it, and had noticed it had no hologram on the back of the watch case. I complained to the salesman who handled the transaction, and he came back and announced that Rolex had never intended the holograms to be authenticating mechanisms for their watches, but rather as internal controls to monitor their movement through customs(I suppose in various countries). They have had problems with these holograms and have decided to discontinue using them, effective with their new watches. This is a guy I dealt with a year ago, and has been to Rolex school...but he didn't know either. When I started to explain this to a private dealer friend of mine, he interrupted me in mid-sentence and said, 'the new ones don't have the holograms anymore.' So for those of you out there who didn't know, that's all the new news I know on the 'Rolex front'.

Correct, no more holograms. My new Z-YM TT MOP W/July date. First one that came into my AD without it.

By hologram you mean the green sticker on the back? My z 16610 had it when I bought it in August. Must have been one of the last ones then...

Beats the AD asking if you want paper or plastic!

I really don't know the date when they stopped, but it has not been long at all, and really, I like those green stickers, even if they were only for internal use by Rolex...my Explorer II has a green sticker and I love it. Ahh well, I'll adapt.

They started phasing out the holograms and including new warranty cards this summer...
http://www.r-l-x.de/wbb2/thread.php?threadid=56508 Holograms became easily copied by Folex and the new warranty cards are suppose to provide a higher level of protection with several embedded security marks. |

No green hologram sticker but a clear sticker with the model number was on the
back of my new LV and GMT. Rob |

Mine might have been. I bought my 16610 Z on 8/20. It had the paper warranty, green hologram etc but, it was so magnificant. I have always dreamed of having that watch and always envied those who already wore it. |

holograms on new rolexes
Quote:
I agree which is why I started frothing at the mouth at the AD's huge shop, until they told me the sad/bad news...no more holograms. I love the one on my Explorer II.....ahh well, I'll live, as will buyers and Rolex. I wonder if they'll have to bring em back by popular demand? A lot of people think if there's no hologram it's not real! |
