You know, I am very close to ordering one... but... I just can't justify it! Please! Someone, CONVINCE me that it's worth the money! I have used them before, and I do like them, but, I just don't see what purpose they would serve that my Iphone and laptop currently don't.... ?
PLEASE!!!! SOMEONE TALK ME INTO IT!!!!!!! |

I really like that Sam, the only thing is... can the Ipad run programs? You'll probably have to excuse the stupid question but I run some simple things for getting in to a network on my laptop, stuff like WireShark and TELNET, is that possible on an Ipad? |

I ordered a 32 wifi only since the 2 with 3G is getting passed to wife. Now to figure out a way to switch if I ever need the 3G without her keeping this one...

We're a 2 iPad2, 2 iPhone3 family with an Apple TV.
I was enormously skeptical of the iPads, particularly when I had the iPhones. There are a handful of applications which only work on iPad. My wife has a keyboard for her iPad and uses it as a replacement to her laptop. The larger screen is a little easier for the eyes. If you spend large quantities of time or watch streaming video, I think iPad makes sense. My 4yo son has the other iPad. It arrived as part of a bungled eBay transaction buying the iPad for my wife (and a 3rd iPad came which I managed to sell at cost). A real issue with these devices is memory. None of our devices have more than about 20% of the memory used. Accordingly, not sure how to justify a 64Gb iPad (or iPhone) and 32 Gb is too much for most users. I tried to get my wife to accept without 3G...failed. |

I pre ordered one as well !!
I went with the black 32GB WiFi + 4G Verizon model. This will also be my FIRST iPad ( and first tablet as well ). Something tells me that when I get it I'll probably never use my laptops again lol I've been a BIG iPhone user since 2008, but have never owned any other Apple product ( but LOVE Apple products in general :) ). All of my computers at home are laptops that are 4+ years old, so this will be a very welcome addition in my computer fleet :) Also Paul - GET ONE !!! lol This will also be my first time buying one as well, so we can share that experience together LOL They are SO popular, and EVERY person I know that has one LOVES it, and says once you get one you will wonder how you got along without it. I was just leery because I already have the iPhone, and two laptops so why would I need an ipad ?? Well, the iPad SMOKES the battery life on my laptops ( that don't even last 2 hours unplugged anymore ), have a MUCH better screen, easier to use, has TONS of apps on the App store, EXCELLENT Apple support, TONS of accessories to choose from if needed, etc. etc. So, in conclusion . . . .GET ONE !!!! :) |

There are apps in the appstore for telnet... As for wireshark there should be an app that does the same thing. I suggest to go into the app store and do a search on the type of apps you like to use for work or play before you purchase an ipad to see if they are suitable for your needs. Dont forget there is always a cost for those apps unfortunately. |

Damn FedEx!
The joy of pre-ordering. Will be here sometime before 4:30. The big plus is no waiting in lines anywhere. Can't wait.

got mine this afternoon plus the new Apple TV too, held off getting the ATV as my broadband was poor to say the least but with fiber optic installed last week the ATV's live streaming looked & ran perfect & the airplay mirroring showed little if any lag.. well pleased

It isn't an ipad3 it is called a third generation iPad.
However I like it. A bit heavier but still a good little unit. Maybe Samsung will now be motivated to hugely up its Specs on their 10.1 model.

I am so jealous! I purchased two for my wife and myself and should have waited for that retina screen as I use mine for a lot of reading; Kindle and so forth. Congratulations!!!!
