Question re: shipping from Canada to U.S.

Not sure if this is the right forum, but was hoping someone could help me. I am in California and considering a purchase of a pre-owned watch from Canada. Can anyone tell me if I am going to have to pay any taxes, duties, etc? Thanks! Best, Keith.

No you won't. US residents only pay taxes & or duty when you receive a watch from the EU or Hong Kong. I've sold over 290 watches to the US and not one person paid a thing.

One thing I should add is the fact that the US border services has beefed up their inspection process so there may be a slight delay in having the item get to you. That's why I mark on the parcel "defective watch return". It seems to work in speeding up the delivery process.

If you're importing a Rolex, don't do it! US Customs provides Rolex with section 526 protection (that is, seizure and forfeiture) to imports bearing the "Rolex" trademark. You import a Rolex at your own risk - not the seller's.

You are right on that point. Rolex watches can't be shipped either way, to or from Canada.

Rolex watches can be shipped to Canada.
Just be prepaired to paid all duties and taxes on the import!!

Canadians are not bound by RUSA import regulations..

My understanding was that they can be seized at the border if they ship them here. Maybe my source was wrong, but that's what I was told. I was wrong once, maybe this will be the second time...

They will be 'held' if not properly declared, and either sent back, or released when a proper decleration of value and contents is made...
Canada customs loves to collect!

Yup they do, I'm on CBSA's red flag list. Anything that comes into the country addressed to me, I pay taxes. I bought a $28.00 picatinny bipod and they nailed me on that as well. They would have wasted more money given their wages than the taxes they collected from me. $6.00 and change, give me a break.
