Big WAtches..How big is too big.

Are big watches getting out of hand..

Do they look good on a wrist......would you wear one ?

I think it's getting crazy.

Take this one for example. the Swiss Military CX 12,000. People are wearing it around as a sport watch....Is this right ??

Check out the bling watches that go around these days, even bigger.
And I who thought my Omega Megaquartz 2.4 was big a couple of years ago, now it looks tiny.

Personally, I feel every wrist is suited for a certain sized watch.

I find the 40 mm pin-perfect!!

Someone with a small wrist might be very comfortable with either a 34 mm DATE, Air-King or a 36 mm DJ.

I think in the end, size of the wrist really matters!!

How about this dainty horological masterpiece next to my Sub? It weighs in a couple of grams more than an '07 Honda Accord, and will stop a cruise missile dead in it's tracks.

I think a 40 mm looks good on most, unless the man has unusually large or small wrists.

But, when in doubt, bigger is better. And no smart-aleck comments, either!

It's not how big it is, its how you use it.

I say that any watch beyond 44 mm is too large.

Anything bigger than 44 mm, it should be called a "wrist clock" instead of a "wrist watch."

IMHO, unless you have over 8 1/4 inch wrist or wearing the watch over Arctic gear or a wet suit, anything larger than 42 mm is too big.

I think for a man, 36-42mm size watches are a good fit.

Saw many in Asia wearing large 44mm Panerais on their wrist, that just looked really faddish weird and ridiculous IMHO. If the lugs hang over the sides of your wrist, the watch is too large.

I had an Omega PO 45.5mm on my wrist and it was over-whelmingly too big, and I have 7.5" wrists - not massive wrists, but fairly common.

I figure that anything past 43mm is too big, unless your wrists are over 8".

She's lying to you.!!

Back on subject. I tried on a 45mm Omega PO not to long ago and it's good size for me. But that would be the max

I think it depends on the watch. My Santos 100 is very large. At 51mm long, but in width it is just a tad wider than a sub. Still it does not look ridiculus on my wrist. The lugs do not hang over my wrist harly at all. The Paneri Black seal I tried on when I was buying my Cartier did look much larger.

My wife calls my Santos the wall clock though.

I do wonder if the oversize craze will ever fade. The same thing is happening in the pen business. There are some really huge pens on the market.

Monster!!!!!!

The left is a 40mm SAR. With the steel bracelet, the CSAR is over 8oz/227g.

I have a Fortis B-42 that is 42 mm, and that's about the maximum that I would ever wear on my 8" wrist. I have a number of much smaller Gruens and Bulovas from the 40s and 50s, and they are absolutely tiny compared to the current crop of watches.

I honestly think that this huge watch trend is somewhat of a fad and may not last. I guess time will tell, but you'll never see me buying a 45 mm watch or even another 42. 36- 38 is perfect for a dress watch and sport watches can be up to 42, but not more than that IMHO.
