After a while, stainless steel bracelet and case get lots of tiny scratch. I want to polish it to make it like "new" again. I've heard any watch can only be polished total 2-3 times. Otherwise it will get thinner. How often do you polish your watch?

You can polish your watches as often as you like to remove light swirls and scuffs.

It's only the deep scratches that require serious metal to be removed.

I polish my watches quite often and you would never know.

Never done it. I would of course if I had any deep scratches, but the swirls I have no problem with. For now anyway.

I've never polished any of my watches and I have no intention of ever doing so.

Myself never polish I leave all that for service time,they say the RSC can service polish a watch around 5 times before the case shows signs of being polished.Myself believe quite a few times more,but its how they are polished,if you are going to polish for every tiny scratch well who knows.Myself would leave all everyday wearing scratches to normal routine service time, because if you polish, you can bet your life you will scratch it again soon after.

In the beginning I was worried about daily wear and tear, could care less now, as the owner you are the only one that would ever notice

I don't polish it, I'll leave that to RSC. I do rebrush the bracelet every few months though.

I clean mine occasionally with Cape Cod cleaner, but they are only polished during routine service appointments at the jeweler every 5-6 years or so.

I think that I thouroughly steam clean and lightly brush my bracelets about once a year...

I don't worry about any deep nicks and gouges. It takes too much metal off to bother with, and it does change the contour if you go too deep..

I see it as periodic maintenance that I perform on most mechanical machines I own...

If you mean to remove finger marks and the like. I do it quite regular. I don't like scratches on my watch, but they do happen so it doesn't worry me, I won't get them polished out until service time.

Must admit that I can't figure out the "scratches give it character" bit at all, may as well walk out of an AD and drop kick it down the road if one wants a watch full of character. Thats just my opinion, others are entitled to theirs.

I got some funny looks when I walked out of Watches of Switzerland and did just that the length of Princes Street!

I like the beaten up look since it makes a mass produced product truly unique. Kind of like a leather jacket or a pair of good boots...

Don't get me wrong, this only goes for a watch like my 14060m. If and when I get my gold Patek I'll "hug it and pet it and call it George"!!!

I wash mine offen. I use a Cape Cod every few months to keep myself happy.
