For the same reason that many like other brands.

Because Rolex is the BEST everyday watch that can hold up to the rigors of life and then some. I have quite a few high end brand watches and were Rolex daily most of the time.

Rolex have perhaps to most brand recognition of any of the premium watch companies and they have several iconic models as Sub, GMT, DD, DJ...

The majority of persons buying an premium watch want other people to notice that the hane an expensive watck, then Rolex is the best choice...

I think, because models have evolved very slowly, last for decades with proper servicing & are instantly recognizable decades later. This helps insure when you buy a Rolex today you wont be stuck with an obsolete/unrecognizable item anytime soon. Making it very easy for someone who is not necessarily a watch fanatic to pay a premium price...

Exactly you can put even a simple Rolex Air King and go chop down a tree take a shower and go to dinner at The Ritz with the same watch

People like rolex because of exclusivity in asian countries. Its the most well known exclusive or expensive watch. Would any non watch aficionado would know whats a lange? Anyone in the street ask them whats a rolex and they know. Its about social status. Maybe here in the us is the same.

No!!! It is not that exclusive in SE Asia. Even a waiter or shop assistant aspire to buy one and quite a few when I last visited do wear one as well---not sure whether they are real or fake. Places like HK where cars are so expensive and there are no place to park them, a gold Rolex is a good way to fluant your wealth.

Personally, I bought a Rolex because I always wanted one since I was a kid just like I always want to buy a 911 or any Ferrari!
Being a car enthusiast, naturally my first Rolex is a Daytona!

In my judgement, Rolex watches are actually worth every penny you pay for them and when you consider what you get in return, the prices are actually quite reasonable.

I like Rolexes, such as the Sea Dweller 16600 and Sub 16610/SubC because they are uniquely good looking and tough. Also, the 3135 is excellent from my non-technical perspective. Time-keeping is consistent throughout the power cycle, something that is somewhat uncommon among mechanical watch movements.

That said, many newer Rolexes are too blingy for me. I'm a little concerned that Rolex is moving away from the simpler, classic look of old. When you build a reputation on classics such as the Datejust or Sub, why not keep a few simpler watches in the stable? Glad to see they've kept the no-date Sub in the line-up.
