NCAA Frozen Four National Hockey Championship

I realize that I might be one of only 412 people in the country who care, but the Frozen Four begins right now on ESPNU. Ferris State plays Union (NY,) both in the finals for the first time, then my alma mater, the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers play Boston College tonight on ESPN2. GO GOPHERS!

We are lucky to have a number of good college hockey teams and arenas in the area and I enjoy going to games. Even though the wife teaches at BU we have to forget local squabbles on root for the home town team tonight!!! So let's go Eagles!!!

There are lot more than 412, I'm not rooting for your team but I love college hockey. BU my alma mater had an ok year and a few scandals but they'll be back. Pains me to route for BC but they are from Boston...

Either way you're going to have him soon enough to play.

Ferris State and Union remain tied in the third. I was really surprised to see that Union can field such a good team with no scholarships for hockey.

Drew Miller did just that.

Won the NCAA with Michigan State,

Was called up by the Ducks and won a Stanley Cup.

Same year, weeks apart.

Dang! It's been 10 years since Jordan Leopold won the Hobey Baker.

This is a pretty good write up on Union's hockey success.

Yes, 2007 was a very good year for Drew Miller. From what I recall he was back and forth between the Ducks and the AHL and it took a few years before he stuck in the NHL for good with the Red Wings. Nonetheless a good time to get called up in 2007.

BC looks good and their goalie is hot. A bad combo for MN.

The Gophers weren't up to the task. They've been inconsistent this year, allowing six unanswered goals in a 6-3 loss to the University of North Dakota one week, then beating them handily two weeks later. I don't think Ferris State can win against BC. They are too good.

I agree. FSU's defense will need to play their best game of the year. And they'll need BC to break down while in the offensive zone.

And, yeah, would have liked to have seen the Gophs win. I saw them, live, win their back to back titles in '02 and '03.

Nice win by BC, congrats to Jerry York and his classy team. All good kids... er... men. played with integrity and skill.

Good game! I was impressed with Ferris State overall. They can be proud of their season. The goalies were terrific, and the BC back checking was phenomenal. Ferris could hardly get the puck across the blue line. BC is clearly the best team in this year's 16 team field. The worst part about tonight's game is that college hockey is done until next fall....

Scary that some players on BC will be going for their third national championship next season.
