Ordered

Early last year my wife said that if I lost weight and inches off my waist like I said I would then she would buy me the new Explorer II white dial.

Well over the last year and a half I've lost 50 pounds and over ten inches (from a 47 to a 35); kept it off and losing more. My wife has already ordered the watch, her brother working in Saudi Arabia is buying and sending it.

Funny, I told the guys at Swedish Jewellers here in Edmonton that I would buy the watch from them when the time came... sorry, if you read this thread, my wife pre-empted me. But I will take it to you for any servicing.

I can hardly wait!

Congrats. I'd check custom laws before the watch is sent. I don't know about them but I know watches have been seized in the past.

OP I'm not passing judgement on you please understand that but since I think-type all the time I'm just wondering... can you imagine of the roles were reversed? A husband telling the wife to drop a few pounds and you'll buy her something? It would go over like a fart in church.

That begs the questions...how do you tell your wife to lose a few pounds? Any takers?

Thanks for all the comments!

Actually my wife wasn't the one to tell me to lose weight, I came to that decision on my own. But she supported it! And then encouraged it!

I have two grown kids and I'll probably have grandkids in the next 5-10 years and I wanted to be alive to see them.

No, I'm not brave enough to tell my wife to lose weight... though she doesn't really need to. That begs the question of 'Who's into suicide?' She does scare me with the amount she smokes and a terrible life-style, but she only gets really angry when I broach the subject.

I do wonder about Customs though, I'll have to look into that.

But waiting for the watch is like being a kid again and waiting for Santa!

Yea I'm not sure about the customs thing. I just wanted you to be aware because that could turn your dream into a nightmare. I was hoping someone might see my comment and give you an answer. I'm sure someone will soon.

Congrats to you on both the weight lose and the incoming watch. It's great that you have a wife that is willing to give you such an incentive.

Huge congratulations. That amount of weight loss requires massive discipline and commitment so good for you - you're bound to be much healthier now. and wow, what a reward!! If only we all had that incentive to go to the gym and skip dessert!! I hope you love your new Explorer when it arrives [though DO make sure you're all clear with customs - it'd be heartbreaking to have it seized..], and wear it in good health.

Congratulation. What a special occassion to get a rolex. Ususally, rolex is either a gift of graduation, b-day, wedding, or engagement gift here.

Last year, I sent a swarovski necklace to my friend in Canada from NY. I put the face value and put it as a gift. She had to pay tax on it. She was screaming at me over the phone. I was so pissed and never going to speak with her anymore. Paying 15bucks for a 180usd necklace and had to yelled at me.
