Which to keep..14060M or 16610?
On saturday I acquired a tritium dial 16610 (K serial), in well used but good condition...For a good UK price. It can only stay if I sell my 2 line 14060M...
What do you forum members think I should do, taking these questions into consideration; Which of the two will be more sought after in the future (20 years+) and easier to sell if needed? I wish I could keep them both; Love the simple uncluttered Sub and also love the look of the classic Sub date.. Thank you for your considerations and thoughts.. |

Love the collection, if one has to go it should be the 14060M IMHO

Thank you for your answers...But why sell 14060M?...Will it not be the "5513" of the future?...And aren't 16610s much more common than the NDs and for this fact the NDs will be much more sought after in the future?

well, by that logic wont the 16610 be the 1680?
i mean, they are all nice watches..i would base it on my own preferences rather than future collectible value - there are way too many 16610's and 14060's for either to be collectible in my mind. just my thought - too bad you cant keep them all, you have got a great little sub collection there. |

Yeah, good answer..
Yes I agree that these models have been made in their millions...But hasn't the Sub fan base also grown monstrously..? The new Asian market etc etc..Meaning that the Sub will always be a highly desirable and sought after watch...Especially the ones that were still considered as tool watches and not ceramic jewellery that will never be chosen as standard equipment by the military and explorers..OOps starting to get into slightly dodgy territory here..

Nice collection! Tough choice. I'd probably say bye to the 14060.
Good luck! |

Great collection. If one had to go, since you have a 16610LV I would get rid of the 16610 and keep the 14060M.

Sought after, almost every Rolex is. Hard to find, almost none are. Even with the fewest produced "versions" of the 14060 there are hundreds of thousands or millions out there. The reason some vintage watches are very rare and expensive is when they were produced they werent as expensive and used not to mention produced on a MUCH smaller scale. Many didn't survive now. Look at all the very old stuff thats tare and expensive now. Most of that stuff was used many years ago so now its rare and hard to find. Today even the tool Rolexes are taken care of and will be passed down generations from now. Everyone knows Rolex as a luxury brand. 99.9% are going to still be around in 100++ years. No modern Rolex will ever be that rare or collectable. Again I don't like no date watches at all so the ND sub would be out the door for me. I'd have no regrets selling it.

I'm no expert but condition and uniqueness often lead to value. Your 16610 is in used condition and many were made, so this will not likely have great value. Many 14060Ms were also made but not as many, it's in better condition, and it's less like other Rolexes of its vintage, with lug holes, no date, a different bracelet, etc.
If forced to bet, I'd pick the 14060M. Of course, that may be because I don't have one, and I have a 16610. ;-) |

Unfortunately, nobody knows the answer.. You should keep and enjoy the one you want.. hanging onto something because it may be worth a few bucks more in 20 years time is folley... As to the 14060 being the "next 5513"; perhaps at some point.. but 5513's aren't really in high dollar demand..

Great collection first off. I would sell the 16610 and get a 116610 :)
I like how you have the "old" and "new" 2 lined dials and if you wanted to wear a date sub you have the LV... but im a sucker for the 2 lined 14060M's as its my personal favourite and would never part with mine. |

If I were you I would decide which one would get more wrist time, and worry less about future value for a watches made in such high numbers.
In my case I like wearing a watch with a date on it, so I'd sell the 14060 two liner if one watch has to go... Oh, by the way, very nice collection you have there...
