Rolex/Cartier/Tiffany/other?

So I am looking to get my first "nice" watch in celebration of my wedding and I have been looking around for a little bit.
I have narrowed it down to..
Rolex Datejust II blue dial with arabic numerals.
Cartier Calibre with SS Bracelet
Cartier Ballon Bleu chrono with SS bracelet
or a Tiffany Atlas 42mm chrono ( I saw this one in person yesterday and its very impressive

Here are my thoughts...

I like the rolex but it seems to be a bit plain compared to my other choices. In my mind it seems that the rolex is abit more rugged. My father has several rolex and they all can take a beating and servicing is almost a none issue.

With the cartier and tiffany models I like their looks, what I am unsure is their reliability and toughness and servicing. Rolex just does watches.. and I really like that.

The Tiffany Atlas is awesome looking with the black and white dials but im not a huge fan of the rubber on the side.

So here are the two main things?
Should I be rightfully worried going with a cartier or tiffany watch over rolex in regards to quality and accuracy?

I mess around with a lot of aquariums. There have been times where I forget and accidentally have my watch and and go in and mess with something. Do I have to worry with any of these watches. I know the rolex are great in regards to water proof and im not worried about it with them.

Thanks for any feedback

I'd choose between the Rolex and the cartier, most definitely avoiding the Tiffany's watches. Tiffany may have been selling watches for a long time but they are definitely not watch makers. It would be a glorified fashion watch. The design is a bit too in your face and not as timeless.

Rather than getting a standard submariner. I would consider the pasha seatimer chronograph which is a solid and rugged watch or the roadster chronograph, which comes with both a bracelet and interchangeable strap. I'm also a big fan of the new omega models with the 8500 or 9300 movements.

Good luck with your hunt!

I'd pick something timeless you won't tire off as it is a wedding present and you cannot ever sell it.

My vote is for a Rolex submariner.

The appeal to Rolex is its simplicity yet classic lines (at least for me) if you are looking at something more "unique" check out Bvlgari. You can't go wrong with a Santos XL either. Finally, don't overlook Panerai: great w suit and cool with jeans. Good luck and share your decision.

Out of those choices, I'd pick the Cartier Calibre. No reason, other than personal preference. The blue DJII doesn't do anything for me, though I'm looking forward to seeing the new smooth bezel DJII in person.

I have a Cartier Tank Francaise and tbh i've had quite a few problems with the battery, datewheel and with it losing time, i'd go for the Rolex which is why I'm looking for one myself.

I don't know of any quality or reliability issues with Cartier pieces. I've had my Ballon Bleu for about 4 years without any problems. Although it's not the chronograph version, and I think it's a nice dressy piece. I think it allows a little more flexibility than the Datejust II, at least the one you're considering.

I can't talk about the Tiffany option because I've never owned one. I'm not even sure what the one you want looks like.

As far as "other", I'd take a look at JLC. They have some amazing models in the same price range as Rolex and Cartier.

Good luck with your decision!

If you're worried about ruggedness, you should look at a JLC Master Compressor or an IWC in addition to Rolex.
