If you already have a sporty watch (ie a SS Sub or GMT), then I'd go for a Day-date.

The "correct" President bracelet is, of course, bark; but putting that small detail aside, the DD "President" is the the Rolex for dress and while there may be some friendly disagreement, the GMT/ Sub is/are the sport models which come into their own in SS.

Look, to the OP... Do you dress more formal or casual on a daily basis? For me, I am not a suit and tie guy nor nead to in my profession so while a YG GMT can dress up very well, I preferred the sporty look and size of a GMT to wear on a regular basis verses the smaller more dressy DD. If I wore a suit to work, I might have made a different choice but for me it was no contest.

I'm in the high-tech/software game, no tie needed so I can certainly do a sporty watch.

My main issue with any gold watch is that the DC area is a conservative place dress-wise. It is not Miami, LA or NYC where you can easily get away with a gold watch. But I'm working on overcoming that hesitation, hence I'm trying to narrow down my choices.

And yes again, the DD would certainly be on President bracelet! :-)

If you went preowned, you could get a TT GMTIIc which is a nice compromise with moderate flash for daily work wear then will have enough $$$$ to get a nice preowned DD as well for after work or weekends!

I live in the Midwest which is fairly conservative as well and I have never had an issue wearing an all YG watch but I understand your trepidation.

Gotta be the quintessential day-date. A basic staple in every gentlemans watch/Rolex collection.

While the gold GMT is a spectacular watch and I try not to look at the too long here in the forums ( trying to avoid needing to buy one), the classic GMT will always be cased in stainless steel. Own the classics....go with the day-date!

I'm not sure I agree that "sport Rolex" need to be stainless steel. I think a diving tool like a Submariner, while striking in 18K is perhaps best true to its heritage by being in stainless steel, but a GMT is more of a travelers/pilot watch - I don't see any problem with adding a bit of gold to that design brief.

Rolex Explorer? There never has been a gold one, never will be! :-)
