Hi Folks,
Decided to join in as I own a 2012 116660 Deepsea and Breitling Navitimer. Loving the DS and use it as a daily wear and despite comments I have read on the web, its size is not an issue even for someone like me with very small wrists.
Originally I was thinking of also getting a Daytona 116520 in white and I tried one on in an AD's that was waiting for a customer to collect. Very nice, but I made the mistake of mentioning the Y-M II and the AD let me try on the 116689 and despite its weight, it was great.
The white gold is too expensive, the rose gold maybe feasible, but a steel Y-M II would be more realistic.
As far as I am aware nothing was annouced at Basel and I only have the speculation from this site that a steel one will arrive in 2012.
Does anyone have any idea if a steel Y-M II will be available ever?

X3. I really hope they make one though. I think it would be great. On another board someone was lamenting that the YM II was a failure for Rolex because of low sales; but when you release a watch whose entry point is north of 20k, you aren't going to sell that many. Now, if they can do steel and bring the price point in at 10k I think they would see a whole lot more movement, and even on the larger ticket ones.

only Rolex knows for sure, but evidence shows that it will be the next logical step. They released the white and yellow gold versions first, then it was the steel/gold so its logical that the steel version is next.

However, I don't believe it will be in the 10k range, more like 15k, but my guess it will be $17-18k

This question has been asked before and it has been said Rolex will not do a SS YM II due to the complexity of the movement (time and effort in producing it), the price it would cost and that they want to keep it a bit more exclusive (likely the same will be with the new Sky Dweller)

I was intrigued and considered one for a while till I realized the Regatta timer is the most useless feature for 99.9% of the world.... Sure I don't need a chrono BUT at least I can use it to time things when cooking etc.

As said only Rolex knows but I don't think they will. It would still be well over $15k for a SS watch because of the movement. That prices Rolex too far out of their market IMHO. Those prices for SS watch are too close to AP PP SS watches.

Hi Folks,
Got a price back from my AD and I need to put this watch out of my mind. I am lucky as I am in a advantageous tax position, but still too much. I'll revist the Daytona to see if it appeals.
To the 'Old Sweats/City Father's' keep the advice coming across the forums as I really enjoy this site.

Go the Daytona or a nice PP sports watch, you will be very happy and have a classic (they will hold their values better too I think). I am sure a lot of people will like the colour and movement of YMII but for me it looks a bit like a lolly pop, just too much colour and things going on, but to each his own.
