Pre-Owned Watches at an AD

I was wondering… if an AD is selling pre-owned Rolex watches does this mean that the watches have been serviced and authenticated by a Rolex service center?

No, it means he took it in on trade towards another Rolex or something else in the store and hopefully he authenticated before taking it on trade. He may service it and he may not before selling it.

One of my ADs sells pre-owned taken on trade. The watchmaker services the watch (Rolex trained and parts account), but that's not the same as RSC paperwork (though I love his work!)

A watch guy that has serviced Rolex for decades -and even works for a Rolex AD- authenticated a watch I had.

When I sent that same watch to Rolex they found numerous non-Rolex parts.

IMO you have to send a pre-owned watch to Rolex to truly authenticate.

Ok...so maybe we can put it this way...

An insurance valuation (current price $150), service estimate, etc... has the same effect.

2 weeks ago I went into an AD which tried to sell me 2 Rolex with fake bracelets and one had a repainted dial.

Remember the first rule of buying a Rolex: you have to buy the seller FIRST, even if its an AD... Sorry to hear about the bad experiences, they should be ashamed!

It just means that the Rolex watches are genuine and are serviced or LNIB.

At least that is how it is like in DENMARK!

One of my AD's actually accepted swopping my one month old SS Sub Date for the SD (CLEAN swop, and I only had to pay the normal price difference between the two). I even got 10 % discount on the SD like I did on the SS Sub Date.

But he also noted that he would have to send the CCC back to Rolex to have a new one made since it carried my name and also (of course) was dated.

So I guess he will re-sell it LNIB, and I he also has other "estate" Rolex watches in the window display.
