Thanks for info you all! I read that RWSC may not take it but I explicitly told the lady on the phone it was a 5512, then she asked someone if they would service it and she came back and said they would....she also said if there is any red lettering they wouldnt even touch it! If perchance they do not and send it back anyone here have any suggestion on who to send it too???

not bad for serving two terms in vietanam and 25 years of photojournalism!!

There are some good watchmakers that vintage collectors use..

Congrats on the 5512.

I'm sure you'll get a lot of opinions on what to do so I'll give you my thoughts.

It appears you have a very lovely dial and the case is in good shape. If you send it to RSC at a minimum they are going to force a hands change. They will replace with luminova. The bracelet actually doesn't look to bad, but I can't figure out what happened to the endlinks and the clasp looks broken? RSC will want to replace. The bezel insert is lacking a pearl and RSC will want to replace.
IF I were to sent the watch to an RSC I would remove the bracelet and repair later. The riveted bracelets are $$$ in their own right. I would fit a current replacement 93150 with 580s -- cost $850. I would also remove the orginal insert and have them fit a replacement (look for a pearl later for the orginal) -cost about $51. Service will run about $450- 500. AND THEY WOULD NOT TOUCH THE DIAL!!
Hands are something you'll have to live with if done by RSC.

Bob has serviced many collectors watches, his service is fantastic, and he may have a set of tritium hands that would match as well as addressing the bezel pearl.

I use Peter Whittle of Whittle's Watch Works in Wayne, PA for all my vintage work. (That's too many Ws, but you get the point.) He has serviced my 5512, 5513 and 1675.
