Hi guys, hope you are all well.
I'm Sachin and firstly... what a great forum! I've only been on a few days but have been hooked. I'm looking to buy my first serious watch soon. I'm considering a SS DJ (dia dot) or the new GMT II. Although a SS Cartier Santos 100 is now an outside contender. I'll only be able to afford one at the mo, but I'm so confused, any advice?! I have tried on the 100 and a DJ - and love them both! Hopefully should get a great discount through work and I have mentioned to my girlfriend that Christmas is fast approaching! |

I'm new, too... got my lady datejust Friday after ordering it three weeks ago. It's rose gold and steel with a concentric pink dial and domed bezel. I was shooting for something understated. Have been messing around with some digital pix, but need hubby's help to get them here for you. I have to admit something and this is the source of great angst to me - but the pink concentric dial is really hard to read! So much glare for these aging eyes of mine. You have to turn it just right and squint to see it. None of the 4 ADs I visited carried that dial in stock, but I ordered it because I loved the pix of it on the Rolex website. I also wish it had luminous hands and numbers... it's not at all buyer's remorse, though... maybe I'm just leaving the door open to collect one or two more down the road?

I've been here longer than 60 days, but feel like a newb still.
Like probably everyone else, I decided it was time to get a proper gentleman's timepiece, and I started poking around on the net to find information. This website was by far the friendliest, most informative, and most user friendly that I found. I don't think it's a coincidence that I wound up with a Rolex, though I was looking at several brands. Now I'm hooked. And you know what? This may be the ROLEX forum, but I've had better luck getting info here on other brands than on other forums dedicated to those brands. TRF rules, and most importantly, TRFers are some pretty good folks. |

Site noobie over here!
I've owned:
SS Sub/Date & SS/Platinum YM I really want: Kermit & WG Daytona on strap For now: My wife has a blue dial 31mm SS Datejust, and I'm thinking about getting the same in 36mm. First, I want to sell my Perregaux chrono. Great watch, but I'm finding I like the simpler dials, and the only chrono I'd really like is the Daytona. OK, maybe a Vacheron chrono. I'm having a difficult time deciding between the SS Datejust or a TT Rose Gold DJ. I really want the TT, but practicality says get the SS. I'm concerned I'd have to ask myself each time I go to the grocery store if it's 'too much' to wear the TT. If others have input about this, I'd welcome it. Best, Howard |

For what it's worth, I'm a mom of 3 on the go. I wear my new rose gold and steel datejust to the grocery store, swim lessons, the pet shop and school pickups. It also accompanies me during diaper changes and the kids' baths. I'm finding it is getting some use as a teething device for my 3 month old as well. I didn't want diamonds because of my dressed-down lifestyle, but I think rose gold two tone blends just fine with jeans and t-shirts. How's that strike you?! |

So my fiance' decided for a wedding gift to get me an explorer I which I don't receive till Nov 2. I cannot wait. As for other rolex's I've always wanted the sub and the daytona

I am new here too.
I have a TT DJ with diamond hour markers and looking to get a mid-size watch before the end of the year. Last weekend, I tried on the Air King and felt it was too big for my wrist so I might have to go with an 31mm SS oyster with a black or blue face. My hubby wears his GMT II daily, and has a TT DJ with diamond hour markers sitting in the safe. |

I am Tim from the St Louis area.
I really enjoy reading this forum every night. I just picked a new SS GMTc last Friday to go wtih my SS GMT red/black (2001). Just won a TT DJ with Champagne DD (sales contest at work). Should be getting it any day. Might sell the GMT red/black and get a TT Blue Sub. My wife has a TT DJ with MOP DD. Thanks for all the great information. Tim |

Hi. Been here since September sometime.
Currently have the following Rolexi: 16610 Sub Date circa 1993, tritium dial, drilled lugs 16710 GMT II Pepsi circa 1999 16750 Exp II (white) Z-series 16750 Exp II (black) Z-series (belongs to MrsJedi) 114270 Exp I Z-series Z-series (bought for my father, but still in my possession) I'm thinking about retiring the Sub and replacing with a current model. I might move the collection towards divers and a vintage piece or two if I can find and afford them. But for now, it's pretty complete with the Trilogy and all!! |

wow, guess im a little late to this thread. been on since early sept. been visiting almost daily now, and wifeys not too happy about that...but i enjoy reading all the info this site has to offer. esp. the real vs. fakes!
hope she understands. pictures here are absolutely beautiful and have not gotten tired of the new pics in their new homes. photos here have actually made me think about purchasing a second rolex sooner than later. well...a little bit later. i currently own a Z16600 and love it. have been visiting ADs for a while and have never seen one in person. so when i walked into this particular AD, saw it in the glass, i couldnt walk out without it! went home a happy dood that day. piece.

thanks Tools ...
for a while after i got my pepsi .. i started to wonder if i made a good choice .. cuz my AD gave me an option of either the Pepsi (with a higher discount) or the LV (lower discount and have to wait 3 days) .. i opted for the Pepsi .... thinking that the LV is just too much of a collectors and i love to wear my rolex everyday and of course during the course of the day i always accidently bump the pepsi into things ... and thats why i went with the Pepsi over the LV ... but til this day i still wonder if i made a good choice .. but overall .. i love my Pepsi !!!!! |

Hello All!
Im a newbie. I purchased a 50th anniversary submariner (green bezel) in Boston earlier this year. I love this watch. My wife wants to know why I wear it around the house in my PJs. I've been waiting 20 yrs (hence the name "about-time") to have one (I'm only 38!) because I grew up in a household (poor) in the bronx, however my dad had one. We didn't eat for a month when he bought it :). Well, that taught me to appreciate the value of a rolex. I plan to purchase a Vacheron Constantin in the future, those run about 15k on the low end. What do you all think of my choice for first rolex, also, has anyone heard of vacheron constantin, and what do you think? Great to meet everyone! at |

Welcome, About-Time. I'm a noobie to this forum also. The 50th Anniversary (the "LV" as it is a.k.a.) Sub is a great first choice. It SHOULD be worn in and out of pajamas, goes well with any attire. Black tie or polka dot boxers. My wife probably wouldn't recognize me without a Rolex on. The V-C is a great high end watch, although due to name recognition, Patek-Phillipe probably has a better resell value. (IMHO) Again, welcome.

Mike, airline pilot, GMT-II circa 1991 (bought in '93). Looking forward to learning here. I'll post some photos after I get it back from service. (It pretty much looks like every other GMT)
