GMT vs JLC Reverso to a wedding (dress code dark suit)

Whats the most appropriate to wear as a guest to a wedding with a dark suit dresscode? Only been to white tie weddings before and it's a big no no with watches then.

Would the GMT be too sporty?

:)

Why is a big no no to wear any sort of watch to whatever wedding you have been invited to as a guest. Is the type of watch a guest too, and must have a dress code or a particular type or brand.

I'd say choice number one would be not to wear a watch.

If you feel naked without one - like I do - wear the Reverso.

Have fun either way!

I can't see your posted pic but a Reverso would look much better with formal wear than a Rolex GMT

GMT all the way. The PCL make the sporty more dressy.

Let me start with i own and love my GMT. However, if you decide not to go with the Reverso you might as well sell it.
It's a perfect understated watch to wear with a suit or a tux.
If not for the wedding when would you ever wear it?

I've never understood this, why is it that on formal occasions it is deemed appropriate to not wear a watch? Surely a dress watch is by definition quite an elegant and formal piece of attire?

I've always been confused by this

And I would personally go for the Reverso

The general consensus at TRF is that it is considered rude to look at the time on an occation like that. Call me rude, but I would go with the Reverso and glanze down on it when things gets too dull

In reality it doesn't matter these days, but if you're not going to wear the Reverso for this sort of occasion when are you going to wear it?

I would personally go with the Reverso in that formal affairs are better off with a watch that has a leather band.

As if we all buy these watches simply to tell the time!!

Chances are if one of us keeps looking at their watch it's because they've caught it in a good light and are admiring it hehe.

I'd say there's more danger of someone looking at their phone on such occasions than their watch in order to tell the time. Time to invest a "dress", "casual" and "beater" phone then I think

What to wear to a wedding, a dress watch or a sports watch ?

For me it's not even a question because the sports watch isn't even an option.

You have a great suit/tux watch in the Reverso. Go with it.

Complete pretentious, pseudo middle-class nonsense! Wear whatever you like - if Prince Harry and William can wear an Exp II and a Seamaster respectively, with formal dress (as they did this weekend) then it surely shows that these out-dates 'rules' have finally changed for the better. . .

Good problem you have there, you decide their your watches.

Don't think I've ever seen a wedding invite that says no sport watches. Very nice watches you have there Patrik.

I wear my reverso all the time.
It works pretty well with just jeans and a dark polo.

LOL. Yeah, make sure you eat with your fingers too and remember that white socks go with everything. Hell, just go without socks!

If the GMT was your only watch I wouldnt have a problem with it but, since you own it anyway, I'd go Reverso.

It is funny how perception changes, however, since everyone is talking about the reverso as a dress watch when there is a strong case for the fact that it was the first ever SPORTS watch when it was designed for polo playing army officers in 1931!
