I live in Malaysia too and wear mine at the beach all the time - playing with the kids in the sand, swimming and diving. Can't say they have ever picked up any noticeable wear, no more than just normal daily wear.

Depends on how 'precious' you are about your watch. Some people don't have a care in the world and are happy to wear their new Rolex as if it's a $10 watch. Others will treat it like a piece of fine jewelry and wear it accordingly. Others take a middle ground. Either you will stress about it (may as well wear your G Shock then) or you wear it like you stole it lol.

you own the classic tool/ diver watch, have the opportunity to wear it while doing what it was designed for, with the added bonus of instantly eliminating poser status and earning f/u rights when challenged about your watch choice by nincompoops....
wear your rolex my friend, im sure you have a few scratches on yourself, the rolex don't seem to mind

X3. I sent subliminal messages to my wife for weeks to help urge her to get my Seadweller for father's day. Why? Because we are headed to Turks and Caicos this weekend and I wanted a watch to wear in the ocean. That's what these things are made for, so don't be afraid to use it!

Consider opinions here, but make your own decision on which to bring. If you can't live with scratches and dings on your Sub, leave it at home.
You will have less worry and more enjoyment without that concern.

The most gorgeous watch I've ever seen was a 5512 that was all beat to hell. The guy who wore it looked like he'd traveled a lot, climbed several mountains, raced goats in the Andes, sailed around the Horn, faced elephants in Africa... In short, the watch looked like it could tell some stories as could he. Start USING your watch instead of worshipping it. You'll be happier in the long run.

I spend more time in the water with my sd than on land. They are made for water...just rinse off well each day. Throw it on a NATO for peace of mind and stretch/comfort when wet.
