Beautiful watch, I must say. However, IMHO, the diamond bezel gives off too much of a femine aura.

I probably wouldn't wear it but I kind of like it... YG and black dial look nice, but the diamonds are not my style. Congrats to your friend

$17k is probably about right. It's a gold Daytona, which I'd guess at $14k without actually knowing the age, and it's been customized at some cost, then the diamond cost is added. At least, it looks better than a Daytona Leopard.

Not a watch I'd ever put on my radar.

I really like the yellow gold Daytona and am a bit fan of diamond markers! I think I would personally prefer a yg tachymeter on it instead though but the important thing is that your friend is happy! May he enjoy it!

To each their own. I think that once you start removing components that made these pieces the timing tools of their time, you might as well just call them jewelry. No tach bezel kind of defeats the purpose of what the watch was intended for.

While not my cup of tea ...

... my wife would be onto that diamond encrusted gold Daytona faster than a fat kid on a chocolate bar!

Nevertheless, congrats on your purchase and wear it in good health!

Kind regards
