i run into this problem all the time, i feel this stems from jealousy of some sort in the other party since it is probably something they dont have that they wished they did and saying urs is a fake will justify that u are no better than themselves...i just shrug it off and have found that it is pointless to even argue or to fend for myself that it is a legit rolex.....i am not gonna to pull out my box and papers, remove bracelet and compare serial numbers and then proceed to open the watch to verify the movement >.<

A friend and I were in a coffee shop once and he was wearing his AP. Not sure what kind but it's expensive nonetheless.

We heard a table of early to mid 20's start talking about the watch (We heard someone butcher the name "Audemar Piguet") and one of the girls said something like "What screw that, you can buy a house for that much." and we laughed because my friend has several multi-million dollar houses (and a Bugatti Veyron, lucky bastard)

What did they think? That we buy the watch before we buy a car and house? We're not living in studio apartments to afford our watch habit.

Shouldn't really matter what he thinks, too bad he had to be so loud about it though. I certainly wouldn't want to be put in a position where I would think it would be best to debate an idiot and try to defend myself. Especially in front of so many people whom which I may not even know. Probably best just to let him think he was right.

I have only had few people recognize what I was wearing with the exception of jewlers and only one was obnoxious about it. When that happened I really wished he hadn't noticed it because he wouldn't let the subject go and tried to use it as reason why I should buy something from him when I didn't want in the first place. This guy had sold watches in the past and was now selling vacation packages.

Best to try to go about not being noticed in most cases when it comes to nice watches, and I'm happy that in most cases most people have no clue when it comes to nice watches.

I didn't buy my watch for others in the first place, I bought my watch for my enjoyment.

Nothing delicate about my manhood, just saying how I see it. You'er the one being disrespect and insulting, calling me an idiot. I doubt you would be man enough to say it to my face.

I agree! And yes, I've also had that experience! Maybe because I'm 'only' 34 years old or because I'm not wearing a suit

I get it at times - no matter what you say, it wont make a difference they have it in their heads that you're wearing a fake

Bottom line is - let them think what they want!!

I don't think that I would let them think what they want. Especially if we are at a table with friends. You call my Rolex a fake in front of people that I know and I will defend it. Not going to get into an argument or a fight over it but I will advise the other person that it is real.

Strangers. Who cares. How often does that happen anyway really...

A person who use the excuse of being drunk to behave badly, is not much of a person. A person who calls out a friend in front of others that his watch is a fake (regardless of if it is fake or not), is again not much of a person, let alone friend.

Conclusion: Since that is not a person, ignore it and enjoy your watch.

P.S. If a friend calls me wearing a fake watch, I would say "Of course, how can i possibly afford one"

I said "DeepSea" because 1) I don't want to seam like a pretentious a**hole and 2) I don't want the pretentious a**holes, and shallow girls here in Scottsdale liking me because they think I have a Rolex.

He grabs my wrist and says to the group "He's wearing a fake Rolex!!!" (while laughing).

I politely disagree but after a few minutes of trying to explain to him what I have on I give up. Apparently he's an experts and He says that he buys all his watches from "his guy" at the local Tourneau (sp?) store and he has never seen that Rolex there before.

Tourneau isn't an AD and every time I've been in the local and very tiny store all I see are beatup Sub's in the preowned section.

Have you ever had a person say yours is a fake when they obviously have no frickin clue what they are talking about? It seems that if it's not a Sub or GMT people who do not know Rolex think it's a fake.

I agree with the above........and wasn't going to get drawn into this argument but there just seems to be quite a lot of people that don't seem to mind being embarrased or insulted in front of their friends/peers which I must admit I find rather strange......

This "turn the other cheek" and "I don't care what other people think" approach is, in my mind, a strange response to such a loudmouth obnoxious idiot..... with, from what the OP has said, clearly had some issues and a belittling point to prove..... for whatever reason......

I would just turn it back on him and ask what makes him think it's a fake....?

How come he knows so much about fakes in the first place....? Lots of experience....???

But fetch me a bucket of water if you want me to show how wrong you are........The loser wears the contents of the bucket afterwards.........

Or put money on the table...... that usually shuts up these loudmouth idiots. Let's meet tomorrow at your AD and if its a fake I will buy you whatever you want in the shop.........If it's not, you buy me whatever I want...... Deal????

Thankfully, I am of an age when people assume I can afford a Rolex.... so have never even encountered the suggestion that any watch I wear may be counterfeit but I can understand if you are younger and just dress casually, that there can be some small minded and very jealous people out there......But I think you just need to front it out and stand up for yourself ....... almost like gambling with a Royal Flush......

I wouldn't mind it at all, coz I own the watch and I know it's real, so i don't sweat it. Moreso coming from a drunk.

Have to agree here. If an adult male is going to try and insult me and make me feel small, he is not going to walk away the victor of that event. I am not saying the guy is going to get hit, but as I said earlier, confronting a bully usually results in them shrinking away. For the most part jerks want you to respond with hostility. I would ask the guy what he hoped to accomplish by trying to make someone feel bad about themselves? I would insist on an explanation. It's interesting to hear people defend why they are acting so stupidly. They end up essentially explaning to the group why they are an a$$. By the time they are flashing a fake smile to other people to try and get people to agree with their behavior the remainder of the group has lost interest in them. That's when you drop an insult of your own usually aim for an insecurity like weight, height, or hairline if male. The bully just got bullied.

I think someone who asks whether your Rolex is real is either envious or insecure, or both. I good answer is, "They really make nice looking fakes these days, don't they." The guy probably wouldn't even realize that you did not answer his question.

Ignore it, move along. Drunk people will always say or do something stupid, especially if they're feeling inferior to you in some way. Playing their game only means they win, and you can't win with a drunk. Eff him.

I would have ignored the dbag. I've had quite a few comments on my watch, all were positive and no one so far has questioned its authenticity.

Who cares what other people think what I drives or wear! I frequently got commented that I drives a beetle for those acquintances who worship Jeremy Clarkson. I spend my hardearn cash on luxury goods for me to enjoy myself and no negativity from other people can distract me from my enjoyment. I only get offended and upset when someone makes negative comments towards my family!

Yes I have been accused of wearing a fake Rolex many times.couldnt care less.one guy who accused me of wearing a fake Rolex was wearing a fake movado.it was very comical cause he said he paid 150 for the movado and the real one was only 500.
