The straight ends on the band are correct in this case. No need to replace.

Great score there Linda

Nice thick case with balanced lugs. The watch looks like it's been pampered all it's life.

$3250 for a 18K pink gold Rolex, you won't find that every day. Congrats

Wear it in the best of health.

And have a wonderful 18th birthday

Hello Linda,

I am pretty sure it is a refinished dial as it looks very much like one, but that is only my opinion. The most important opinion though, is yours. You need to decide how you feel about it now that you have got it and if you love it and connect with it then that's all that matters. After reading your little back story, I just wanted to let you know what I thought because I am hoping you find the watch you really want and can be happy with based on a little knowledge and understanding of what you've bought.
Hope I didn't crush any dreams.

Andy.

He said he was taking a bunch of watches to Vegas next week for a big watch show and would be bringing that one if I didn't take it and he said I have 14 days to get it checked out and return it for a full refund so I bought it.
This seems like the ABC's of sales pitches. One, state the appraised value (which is usually higher than FMV) and offer an item at half the price. Two, create a sense of urgency. Three, provide the reassurance of a return. The guy has definitely been in sales awhile :).

Regardless of the sales pitches if you like the watch go for it! It seems to appeal to you and in the end, that's all that matters. Happy early b-day wishes and congrats on your selection!

I think that you should have it if you love it and it seems to be comfortable financially for you. That being said, I wouldn't purchase it if your future thought are to move it out profitably- lady's vintage is a tough market.
Should you self purchase your own birthday gift? Sadly yes, because I didn't get you anything:(. J

Jim offers 3 good advices in one. I agree completely (but would not have thought of the last on my own--made me laugh).

PS: I am definitely in the "buy it if you love it and it's comfortable financially" camp. That's how I ended up with each one of my watches. They are items I like for specific reasons other than price or resale. I'm squeamish about negotiations so I can't do it. But now this thread has started me wondering what I could get for my favorite 22 year old watch.

That one very crazy, very cool watch. You would regret parting with it, guaranteed!

Linda....That's a great bubbleback. I would check that both the bracelet and watch are 18K. 14K models are more common and sell for about $1K less...... the diameter is 24MM w/o crown, which is the same as the modern lady datejust.

Charming find...Enjoy!!
