Greg and family I am so sorry to hear this. I remember reading this thread last year and thinking about how such a horrible thing can happen to a girl that had so much to live for. Your family has our deepest sympathy.

I tried to post here three times already and scrapped them all because it just isn't possible to adequately say how saddening this news is.

Condolences to all of Gracie's people, who will keep her in loving memory.

I remember this thread from last year. It was heartbreaking then, and when there were no updates I had hoped for the best.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this terrible tragedy. Life is truly unfair.

I'm so sorry. I will light a candle for Gracie in church this Sunday and every Sunday after, and will constantly have Gracie and your family in my prayers. Not fair, not fair at all.

Greg,

I am so sorry. I saw this yesterday, only one week after we met and had lunch. I have tried to post a condolence reply three times and broke down terribly each time as I am now. I know how much you love your entire family. I am so very sorry for your loss.

If you ever need anything at all I'm only a couple hours away.....Anytime.

Love, God bless, and Godspeed to your entire family my friend.

John

Broken up inside reading this news.

As Greg will know, this is closer to home for me than many here imagine.

The tragic loss of any child to this condition is heartbreaking and something I truly hope the world can prevent in years to come. This doesn't make up for the pain of that loss though and the entire family have my sympathies.

My absolute condolences to Greg and his family and Gracie's parents during this time.

Greg if you need to talk about things or if Gracie's father needs to talk about the situation, please both of you email me.

Jim

God bless Gracies' parents for going through this. Looking at her beautiful face in your first post, one would never think she was ill. Life is just so unfair sometimes. I will say some prayers for them tonight. I'm sure Gracie is looking down on her family and giving them strength to pull through.

Greg:
To you and your family my words fail to express how saddened I am. I just picked up this thread and saw your name and the beautiful Gracie. When I read further tears came to my eyes. My condolences to your family and especially to her family who are I am sure devistated. It will never go away but it will get better. When things do , after a while, grab a copy of " When bad things happen to good people" by Harold Kushner. Here is an Amazon review "Rarely does a book come along that tackles a perennially difficult human issue with such clarity and intelligence. Harold Kushner, a Jewish rabbi facing his own child's fatal illness, deftly guides us through the inadequacies of the traditional answers to the problem of evil, then provides a uniquely practical and compassionate answer that has appealed to millions of readers across all religious creeds. Remarkable for its intensely relevant real-life examples and its fluid prose, this book cannot go unread by anyone who has ever been troubled by the question, "Why me?"

I have, until now, avoided this thread because of pure hartbreak.....

I can no longer hold in my grief, although pales in comparison, to the loved ones involved!

Greg, although we've never met personally, my sincere heartache to your brother and family as a whole are reflected in this post!
Such a travesty to have a young beautiful child lost to this pure evil we call Cancer!
I, as is my wife, heavy fundraisers in the 'walk for life' Canada program... and this just hits home all the more. Both of us have lost family to this in the past, and my only wish in life right now is to cure this disease....
To little to late I know (as is this post)..

I can only hope time will heal you all, and always remember the fun loving girl by the name of Gracie......I know I will!

Rob.

Rob.
A Child Of Mine by Edgar Albert Guest, 1930

I will lend you, for a little time,
A child of mine, He said.
For you to love the while she lives,
And mourn for when she's dead.
It may be six or seven years,
Or twenty-two or three.
But will you, till I call her back,
Take care of her for Me?
She'll bring her charms to gladden you,
And should her stay be brief.
You'll have her lovely memories,
As solace for your grief.
I cannot promise she will stay,
Since all from earth return.
But there are lessons taught down there,
I want this child to learn.
I've looked the wide world over,
In search for teachers true.
And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes,
I have selected you.
Now will you give her all your love,
Nor think the labour vain.
Nor hate me when I come
To take her home again?
I fancied that I heard them say,
'Dear Lord, Thy will be done!'
For all the joys Thy child shall bring,
The risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter her with tenderness,
We'll love her while we may,
And for the happiness we've known,
Forever grateful stay.
But should the angels call for her,
Much sooner than we've planned.
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes,
And try to understand.

Greg, I know what you're going through! Praying for Gracie and your family and every person who passes through a test like this in life. These things strengthen us and are an awakening to pull us out and away from the trivialities of life that are keeping us away from realizing what we have and away from God and the beautiful things He gave us. We tend to just go about our lives forgetting the beauty of God's creation, the beauty of the world around us, the good of life.
We usually here about these things happening to others, whom we sometimes call the "unfortunate". When it happens to us, it is our turn to serve that purpose to remind others that life has its misfortunes. Nothing is perfect. Never doubt God's intentions, as much as His tests can indeed be tough. Praying for Gracie!
