1966 model with aftermarket bracelet. Who knows when it was serviced last?! Enjoy your new acquisition!

Lack of original bracelet would spoil it for me but if you`re happy with it then the actual price is not all that important.I don`t think you overpaid assuming the rest of the watch is in excellent condition.

I believe the bracelet is not after market, there is some history on the Joske´s bracelets.
"JOSKE's was a texas dept store and rolex AD back in the 60's and their band's were made in Mexico. This was not at all unusual. I have seen these bands before and the consensus on this forum was that they are genuine, but I myself am not expert enough to tell the difference between real or fake. The thing to note is that the removable links were on a Rolex USA band, not a Made In Mexico one. The US model has other differences: different end-pieces (see here), different clasp (see here). The only serial number on the US version is the 6-71 in the picture. I don't know if the Mexican ones should look the same so I'm not at all sure it's fake. I'm just a little uncertain, so more expertise would be greatly appreciated!" |

Thanks for the help guys! I was attracted to this watch because I find the dial to be very elegant, would be a nice dressier watch compared to my sub. So as far as value goes do you think $1500 is a good price?

I rarely ever click through to Flea Bay but I just tried. The link is gone.
I personally would never buy the watch as described. I prefer all original parts and would be concerned other aspects of the watch were in question. |

Looks like a fairly old, 34mm, Rolex with aftermarket parts. I woudlnt' say you got a good or bad deal: I'd say you paid the correct price. Hopefully the movement is actually a Rolex movement

Gotta agree with Stanley. The bracelet is in great shape for its age. A 100% genuine band.

Well, you still have another hurdle to jump over and that is the US Customs. I don't know what the seller will state on the declaration form, it could be siezed and return to the seller. Other than that, the watch looks nice but since I am cheap it's a little bit more than I am willing to pay for.

I would buy it all day long and if you dont want it ill buy it from you.
You ask did you get a good deal and i say yes. Below is my worst case scrap values in the watch Value in scrap gold in the band around $300 Clasp and end pieces $150 Value in Gold in the bezel around $200 Value of running 15xx series movement around $900 Value of case set $150 value of dial and hands $100 Crown $35 Box $75.00 Lets do the math........I have $1910 in parted out value so at $1500 you did good in my book .....

the watch is obviously genuine along with the oval band and i can't understand why all the people pile on here criticizing it when clearly they don't have a clue about vintage. on VRF that stuff isn't tolerated and when something is criticized as aftermarket there is a requirement to justify the claim with an explanation. we don't do ebay but i agree with you that the sum of parts make it a no brainer...that is unless one doesn't have much clue what one is looking at. to the buyer...this is not the time to start doing your homework when you have already won the auction and it's certainly poor form, but this time you lucked out. fred |
