My 5134g 'Travel Time'
This 5134g is a GMT watch which features a dual time zone complication. There is a 'skeleton' hand beneath the hour hand which is deployed by depressing the push-buttons on the left side of the case. The skeleton hand tracks your "home time" while the regular hour hand can be set to local time where you are traveling. The dial at the top is a '24 hour' dial which-- in correspondence with the skeleton hand-- tracks whether it is a.m. or p.m. in your home time zone. Really cool complication-- sort of a sister watch to the World Time which shares the same Calatrava case-- and useful for those who travel between time zones. The 5134 has the classic Patek 215 manual wind movement. It winds like butter (with a safety mechanism to prevent over-winding) and it is a joy to do so before strapping it on.

Found this in the back of the safe.......
Keep thinking I flipped all my Pateks years ago, but came across this again, this afternoon, in the back of the safe. (Haven't worn it for years, but it started right up, with a wind....so I strapped it on and took a quick iPhone pic). After looking through 20 pages of incredible watches (including a few I definitely wished I had NOT flipped), I'm almost embarrassed to post this.......not sure what model number, but do recall that it had (at the time) the thinest mechanical movement in a Patek (bought it second hand sometime in the 1970s/80s as I recall, for a few hundred $$).....Time only, manual wind, 18KYG, screw back. I liked it as it was so subtle/stealthy, so I decided to keep it........
....although I guess I should have kept the perpetual, instead!

^^^ Anders, you have some serious blue going on there. It's really a beauty and I hope you're loving it more and more...
^^^ Maui, excellent photo... I've had a case of the photo-lazies lately and am hoping to change that up a bit. So, and speaking of blue, here you go - another photo of my "trance inducer..." Best to all... |
