Which boot??? My first poll.

Since the folks on this forum seem to be the pinnacle of taste and style when it comes to excellent footwear (especially Dan and WarrenG), I thought I would solicit some random opinions on these two styles.

Which do you like best for a casual - business casual winter boot.

1. On the top - Alden Indy Work Boot

2. The lower photo - Allen Edmonds Long Branch

I think they're more suited for khakis and jeans and casual style than the wing tips.

Neither. Sorry, but being from Minnesota; it's hard to pass on great shoes and boots while supporting the local economy.

These are on my Christmas List this year.

I voted for the Alden Work, but I think it depends on your dressing style. The Work would go better with chinos, but if you wear a lot of wool flannel or corduroy, the Long Branch would be right at home.

I love the look of the Alden's but the one shop in town that carries them seemed a bit tough to work with.

I did purchase the AE's this past week. Great looking boot that can be worn with a lot of different things. Can't go wrong either way.

We have to mail order here in Denver and the shop I ordered from actually called me after they shipped (still not in yet) to say that they shipped out a pair that had a cut on the heel and would offer a discount if I liked them. Needless to say I am a little chuffed that a shop would do this with a $500 pair of boots. But Damn, they do look good.

Nice boots.

I try to buy only US made shoes when possible.

Have you considered Wolverine 1000 Miles? I really like the simple look and that they have leather soles.

The Alden Indy normally has a leather sole, so I’m guessing he specifically wants a rubber one.

Great looking boots. I vote for the Alden Indy pair.

So they shipped a pair of boots they knew had an issue, and then said they would give you a discount if you kept them? That sounds kinda lame.
If you do end up liking them, I would ask for a HUGE discount, as you have the advantage. I bet they go for it as they already have a buyer with the pair in his hands and it is easier for them, rather than get them shipped back and try to find a new buyer with same size that will want them.
Cheers!

yeah. Definitely.

Shoe Mart sells Alden seconds at 35% off so that is what I will be asking.

If that's the case then that would be a pretty good deal.

You could actually get them recrafted (which I wouldn't do) and still save some money.

Seconds often don't look that bad from what I'm told.

I snagged a pair of grey long branch's last week. Very comfortable and they go great with jeans. If you don't wanna spend the cash on Alden's, check out wolverine 1000 milers.

I am thinking I might have two pairs at this point. I really like the Long Branch with jeans as well.

Never have liked the prominent toe on the 1000 milers.
