First time this has happened to me!!! What would you do???

HI MEMBERS,

so i have a few watches in my collection and for the first time in my life i purchased the DateJust II with the Blue Face and Stick Dial, and i just never seem to to go it , i am always choosing a SUB or Explorer....... how long do you wait before you flip a watch you seemed to be in love with , but now never seem to want to wear it????it is still very new , but idk......

i may be crazy , but any feedback is greatly appreciated!!

First of all, wear it. If every time you look at it you feel the same lackluster reaction, that should tell you something. If you occasionally think, damn glad I have this watch, then it's probably a keeper..........at least for a while.

Rip it out, like a band aid ... that's what I'd do. You'll probably lose some money, but you are buying not having to think about it with that cash.

Although I think that many of the DJs/DDs are gorgeous pieces, I know that at this point in my life, they just aren't for me. I know that I would end up wearing something a little more casual and sporty 99 out of 100 times. Therefore, I refrain from buying one.

As Dan mentioned, probably the best thing to do is to force yourself to wear it. Commit to it, and give it a solid chance. You should know after a few days / times whether or not you want to keep it.

Wait a little while. I'll put it in different terms... Sometimes I've bought pants that I think are awesome when I buy 'em. Then, I never wear them, and think of throwing them out to clear space in the closet, but then, six months later, that same pair of pants is my favourite, and I don't even want to put them in the wash (no washing machines here in many flats, so putting in the wash means I don't see for a week) Who knows, man.. There must have been something that made you buy that watch, right? Maybe you're just not in the mood...Give it a few days and see. For me, I only wear blue in spring (light with dark, and mix with brighter colours), and then in mid-winter (Navy only, mixed with darks/browns) , so I'd never shoot out a shirt, or watch, just because it's blue.

twenty minutes after I fall out of love with it. high turnover but it beats being bored/having the watch sit in the drawer.

Sometimes it take several days, other times it only takes some hours. Like with my Explorer II white dial. I have always loved this watch and still do. But I just do not think it fits me. I rather choose my Milgauss or Datejust over the Explorer II any day. But on photos, in real life and on other people's wrists I think it looks stunning, but on my self, not so much... So it is up for sale in Norway.

If you wanted to wear it you would be already, and if you were saving out for special occasions etc., you wouldn't be asking.
It sounds to me like it's time to move on. It's a nice looking watch, but that doesn't mean it's right for you and your lifestyle.

Well I've never sold a luxury watch but I have similar feelings about one of my rolexes. I wore my DSSD for 3+ years everyday. After 2 years the thickness started to bother me. Then the (IMHO) over the top, over advertisement writing around the rehaut just got too much for me. I guess after I broke the bezel and was without it for 3-4 weeks when I got it back it just felt different. I received this watch for a very special occasion and couldn't sell it. It means a lot too me but in the past year I've worn it less than 10 times. My friends have worn it more than I have. Still I won't sell it. Now that I got my AP I wear it even less. I always mean to pull it out on weekends and wear it but just find myself wanting to wear my Sub or AP and never do. I have a large wrist and the size wasn't an issue for me at all. I guess over time feelings change. There was a thread about DSSD owners that had had the watch for more than a year or two and there were several owners like me with a love/hate relationship with it. Many just "tire" of the watch. I will say if you don't wear the DJII and have no attachment sell the watch for something else you would wear.

Sometimes the minute I get it I just say, not for me.

It happens, its normal. You may lose some money on it, but at least it will not be sitting in a drawer untouched for years.

Maybe try wearing it for a few days and see how you feel about it. The DJ2 is a very comfy watch that looks good with nearly any outfit. It is unlike anything else in your collection as its polished and blingy.

I have a few dress watches including a DJ, but I almost never wear them. Even on days where I am wearing a suit, the SS Daytona gets all the wrist time. I wouldn't necessarily flip them right now as I think I will enjoy them maybe later on in my life.
