Total transformation...

So I finally sourced my period correct faded fat font pepsi bezel. Wow does it ever look better than I expected.

Pictures don't even do these things justice! I was thrilled when I saw this little circle of aluminum in the flesh (metal?). It looks so much better than in the pictures I saw choosing one.

I haven't had the bezel installed yet but here are some comparison shots of before and after. It's like a different watch! Note that I've just placed the fat font insert over the watch in the second picture.

Agreed that the strap looks much better with the faded bezel. It definitely made the watch suffer from a bit of an identity crisis.

I also love that the strap actually makes the watch look vintage. Mostly people never believed me that the watch was old on account of the condition and fairly clean markers, etc.
